Hey guys
This sunday was one of the best radar runs ever. I did not get to see it but a superchagred RX1 motor in an old Mach chasis ran a 177.7MPH run he was the fasted all day. He also ran a 174 and a 169. Some guys out of the states came up and they had a 160's pass and also took the 1/4 mile fastest time of around 155 the record was i think 145mph. I personally did my best with a 121.5MPH on my 1999 SRX. (Thanks to MrViper700 for the tips)
My roomate (SniperX) was filming a pass of a supercharged Apex and the track came off at 165MPH.
What a day :yrules:

Holy #$%&* !! I hope nobody got seriously injured. It sounded like somebody near the cameraman got whatcked pretty good.

Track

That was my roomate that was filming the pass and it got him right in the Shin. You can see holes in his snowpants from the track picks where it hit. Thanks God nobody was hurt bad. The driver was OK, once the sled hit the snow after the shutdown it stopped.

Hey Pro116
Engine is stock, V-force 2's, Bender cold air kit, and Can, Transfer rods, Shaved track with 144picks. Bender orange spring in the primary ( I don't know what i'm using for weights but i will soon. I'm over reving 200rmps) Bender 9970c Helix with a red spring wrapped @ 60. I built homemade brackets to lower the sled down.

OMG!! that was way too close, you guys are nutz, if he would have had that track come off 100ft before and lost control of the sled, he would have killed all of you standing there. What happened to the guy the track hit? how about the driver of the sled?

Hey Mrviper700 the sled went in a straight line after the track blew, once he hit the snow at the end of the track it stopped the driver said he was close to jumping off. My roomate had a pick draw blood on his shinn. (Just like getting kicked in Soccer)
It could have been bad, very bad but everybody was ok. The guy holding the gun took most of the track and my roomate got the worst of it. He was the one filming.
Thanks for the tips on clutching, i got my personal best this weekend of 121.5

your welcome, you can probally get a couple more mph yet, but your doin very good, glad to see it!

wow that is insane. Tracks take A LOT of punishment spinning that fast. Think of the centrifugal force on that track as it is making the bend at the drivers and at the rear wheels. Then think of the axial load being put on it by an engine with that much power and a sled that heavy and with so much wind drag. These tracks are strong, but they are also built to be light and speeds like that is about as punishing as it gets.

Damn that would be like being attacked by a shark.
Wish I was there to see the runs but I was knee deep in messed up power valves. Glad your bud was not hurt let alone anyone else. I think spenc should set some rules for viewing and filming these runs.
Stay back....

This actually happened to me about 10 yrs ago. I was hauling ### on a railroad grade in the UP on a heavily studded v-max 4 when the track let loose. It was freaky with no brakes at all and eventually stopped. The track did a job on the hood of my buddies red v-max behind me then hit him in the neck and face. He was lucky and didn't get to scraped up. Hed to travel down to Woodriff Wi as J and R parts was the only place with a track in stock. A full day and a much lighter wallet and i was on my way. This is way to cool and i could never imagine 165mph on a sled.
