As you can see I want to change tracks mentioned in previous post.
I was wondering what you guys think about this. I did search and did learn some info about them on here but not enough to figure this out..
I am going to go with 8 t drivers and a 1.25 track. Do you think if I do this can I keep it from ratcheting?
thanks joe

I don't think you'll have a problem, I've ran studs for many, many thousands of miles on varoius sleds and have rarely had racheting problems. If I did I just tightened it up a little. You should'nt have racheting problems in general because you need to keep your track a liittle tighter to keep the studs from contacting anything in the tunnel. This is definetely something to keep in mind with studs, you can't runit super loose like a non studded track.

I do understand what you are saying.
I was just a little worried about the studs/ ice ripper track because of it being aggressive and the lugs are 1.25 instead of .75

I used to have a studded track on my sled before the ripsaw.Even with 144 studs and full throttle skis in the air launches on ice it never racheted with the stock drivers.I think its more the 4 strokes and some mountain sleds that have racheting problems and thus get the anti-rachet drivers. Is there much price difference since your buying new drivers anyways? If there is'nt go for it I can't see were it would hurt anything.

I see what you mean. Yea I am going to get some used 8 ratchets from a member here and go from there. Next issue will be changing the gears...lol
I will be searching here a checking that out once I get the ratchets.
Yea I wish I could pick my skis up from a launch but it just will not
. The track I have now just spins all the time. It does hae 10% more traction them my sons 98 vmax xtc 700.
anyhow thanks for the info

Just make sure your windows are all open on the track or the anti-ratcheting drivers will not work.

Are you positive you need to go to 8 t drivers? I have heard from several people that if you run a 1.25 ice ripper all you need to do for clearance is remove the front exchanger and keep an eye on your track tension and you should be fine.

My opinion is..
Yes I did read that to but I do not want to take a chance with any hitting. Besides the drivers and gears are out while you chnge the track so why not d it right. I like to be safe then sorry.

If for some reason you dont install the antiratchets I may be interested
the only draw back is bending the track sharper

If you are NOT going to stud the 1.25 inch track then you do NOT need 8 tooth drivers, the stock 9 tooth will be fine. Your track may rub the tunnel/exchanger protectors a little bit. You can either trim the track in the locations where it hits, you can just let it wear in in a few hundred miles, or you can remove the protectors. Personally i dont believe in removing the protectors unless you plan on keeping it forever because I think it makes it a little harder to sell the sled, just a little. If i had to do it again, i would just trim the track where it hits with a pair of end nip pliers or a utility knife.
