my wife's sled was all over the trail this last weekend. Smooth groomed trails with few tracks and it was darting all over. It has newer yamaha 4" carbides. I read an article about shimming the ski mounts, but I know nothing about it. Is there an easy way to resolve darting? My srx does this also, but not half as bad as the sxr. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks Dave

There is an article in the Tech Pages, in the Ski & Alignment. It is a easy thing to do, Ihad it done on my sleds, it helps.

from yamaha stealer or parts store

Everyone that I know that did this gets them from the stealer or online from a yamaha store. I know that they helped out alot but I added a little more to make my ski level once it was one the ground. Someone here will chime in and give some more info on this if I am right.

can this also be done for the 94 Vmax's? I know that the Ski stopper is not the same for that model of sled, but will shimming still work?

cut a chunk out of an old belt, cut it down to 1/2" and slide it under the rubber block and bingo, your done.

Ski Shims

I Use An Old Srx Limiter Strap. On My Apex I Used Two Pieces Stacked On Top Of Each Other. It Was Hard To Get The Ski On But It Made A World Of Difference. Remember Any Shim Will Sink Into The Rubber And Loose Half Of It's Effective Thickness.

back side of runner block, front , or????????????????? How big of a piece? 1/2" thick, how big long and wide?????? Pictures??????????
Thanks

cut them about 1.5" long and .5" thick. slide them under the rubber block between the block and ski mount on the BACK side. This will put more pressure on the rear of your carbide. roll the sled on its side and slide them in. 10 minute operation

So you don't have to un-bolt anything? I thought it went on top of the rubber block on the back side? Under should do the same thing though. Glue or screw in???? Thanks

it can go on top or under the rubber block. I just slid them in and dropped the sled and the weight will hold them in place. been there for a couple thousand miles at least.

will be excelent darting snow in north this weekend i bet,,,cool site 49601
