Went through some deep areas along the river and in the bushes.Man the SRX is having a hard time with the stuff.Had to pin it and hold it,thought I was going to blow the motor or something. Then went in the fied behind my house, tree line all around.Super powder there,3 feet deep at least.Man almost didn't make it out of there.Floored it and she was slowing down and digging in.Almost came to a standstill. Will stick to hardpack and well used trails.Wouldn't want to dig this sled out, wouldn't be able to I gather.

Ya i agree with you for sure, mine definately isn't a powder machine... lol stuck one 2 many times and hurt my back, I then decided never to take it in the powder again... got my brothers bravo for that hahahaha

Wider ski's and a deeper track will help with that. You gotta remember she wasnt built for that kinda riding. Even my Viper with the .92 track sucked in DEEP snow, thats why I went with a 1.25in Predator plus top speed isnt really a concern of mine.

Almost any machine will go in the snow if you know how to ride it in the snow. Its all about throttle control. I ran a .725" track for a long time and didnt have that big of a problem in some deep snow.

thats why my xt went to 136 1 1/4 without transfer rods, no more worries, unless long, steep inclines.

Amen to that. Finesse is the key. That being said, it does definately help having floatation, a long track, and some nice size lugs :winterrul

I found on my SRX that the exhaust outlet sat too low to the snow and choked the motor almost to the point it would barely pull. If in the deep snow, you pull the sled on to the left side and it runs good, you need an exhaust deflector. No matter what you do an SRX is the wrong weapon for deep snow.

My little brother is running a shorty 01 SRX out in Utah right now. He said it climbs as well as the 144's. He just has a 1 1/2" paddle on it.

How about lightinging the sleds up, my cat with a smaller lug track would just glide right over the snow, the viper would go right through it (barely) with a 1 1/4 track on it. It is now nick named the SXSNOWPLOW

Yea, the SRX should not go towards powder lol. Mine will hardly run if i'm in any deeper than 1 foot of fresh powder. Once the hood gets covered with snow you could give it all the throttle you want and it'll never pull 7000 rpm.

I went in the ditch between the lanes on our hwyway(hiway)(hyway)WHATEVER!!Was breaking thru pretty deep, had to play with the throttle and not to dig my self in it.How you doing changeup.Finished with the crying stage and now getting into the anger stages...are ya.Lucky you are still here..walking...ALIVE man.
:winterrul
I know it ain't funny, but you seem pretty cool about it changeup. That's the spirit.Pick yourself up and go forward...it's only money and metal.Got some pics of the damage?

I could take a few pictures in a while. I'm not really that upset about it because it will be an easy fix once the weather gets a little warmer. The damage isn't as bad as it sounds. It's actually pretty minor for what it could have been. It'll be an easy fix, just time consuming.

I have amazing luck when it comes to situations like that though... So many stories that started with stupidity that ended up much better than they should have. Others have had not so good of luck and actually lost the whole thing.

The way I look at it is since the season is past its prime, it's just saving me money. It'll keep me busy all summer as I dont' have a whole lot to do. Work and sit on the lake, that's it LOL rough life eh?. Gives me a lot of time to clean and polish everything, completely going through it and hopefully getting it fixed so that you'd never know it was there. I'm goin to try and straighten the tear in the tunnel and give it a bit of weld, grind it down, buff it out and polish it up and hopefully you'll never see it. Getting the back straightened will be a little harder but I think i can still get it to look decent.

i buried mine yesterday off trail, got lazy and did'nt want to turn it around by hand in the trail, so i found a little open area and tried to turn around. i found crotch deep powder the hump on the seat was level with the snow.

I must agree, SRX`s suck in the powder.

I put a deflector on mine, bender cold air kit and taped off all the hood air vents, she ran good in powder but she still hesitates a few times in a few situations.

I`ve learned that it`s freakin important to spend some time figuring out what kind of riding you will be doing the most and the choose the sled that suits it.
In most cases it`s less $$$ to buy a sled that is suited for its purpose then modifying another.. .
But we all know the good feeling of putting alot of $ into a machine and get it the way you want it.. so.. wellwell.

:)
