I'm having trouble with my hands getting really cold on my 02 viper.i have tried many different gloves & my mom was complaining about wind to the face so we got a bigger windshield but now my hands are always cold. I was wondering it hand guards would fix this problem, if so what kind would be good for this sled.

it sounds like you have warmer issues - my viper runs on the first click most of the time. Higher windshield should have helped not hurt.

hand guards will help my hands do not get cold on the nytro because sometimes i just shut the grips off because the seem to be inconsistant.

Yeah...I'm with ya on the cold hands thing...was riding 2 weekends ago...a newbie playing with one our guys polaris's starts to wave us down...he pulls off his gloves and they are red hot and just steaming...I wish my hands could get that hot...I ended up doin the handgaurds myself...but on a wide open run on a lake with a side wind..that pinky starts to freeze pretty fast...aaannnd...you might hafta trim your windshield or get a lower one...the hand gaurds hit the windshield on a sharp turn...

I had the same problem with the top of my hans from the wind . Believe it or not I installed a set of mirrors and all of a sudden no more cold hands . You don't have to change windshields and there's the added safety of being able to see all your slower Buddy's on there competitors crap sleds ... LOL . Just an idea that worked for me . :brr

Have the same problem on my 02.. I keep the hand warmer cranked right and my hands are still cool. My 97 sx had HOT hand grips. Not sure why the Viper is cooler.
Hope someone here has a fix for this

try this if you want to see if hand gaurds will help-
back in the day when I was young and into 3-wheelers...... I used to remove one side of a gallon milk jug. You must leave the neck intact!
slide the bottle over your handle bars and tape the neck to the bar... presto! instant hill billy hand gaurds

i always had cold hands until i switched from gloves to mits. i bought the best leather pare of mits i could get and never had a problem again. just a suggestion.

My 02 viper is hot! I also have a low windy and hand guards, but hands are never cold, and never, well hardly ever have to have the thumb warmer on, that thing melts the thinsulate in my glove!

Tried mine on MAX once, LOL. Had to stop and put snow on the throttle, was too hot to push.

I have an intermittant problem with my Viper grips; sometimes they don't work. Spent $400 to have some yoyo tell me the grips were bad. Changed grips, still happens intermittantly; personally I think it's a bad ground. I have used gauntlets when it's real cold and it happens. I just pack 'em in the storage area.

Hmmm...the mirrors sound like a great idea...to some it might look dorky...but I've
been looking for an excuse to get em and with my posse always trying to keep up...I don't hafta keep turning my head to see if they are on the trail...heheheh...
