I ended up replacing a crank seal that was giving me problems and had tried a few different clutch set ups but after going back to my old set up I had real good luck with at one point I was just wondering if I should increase preload on the helix up to 80 degrees or if reducing to 60degrees would help me grab the primary more. Its almost like Im starting off in second or third gear I would say. Also I know Im slipping on the primary since i can smell the belt and the primary is pretty hot. I was just curious of your opinions here.

what is the weight in the clutch ???maybe you have your track tio tight... let me know

Have no idea what clutch setup you are running in the primary and secondary, that would help a lot. But, you can definately check the primary and make sure all bushings are real tight, cover and spider bushings. Make sure the rollers aren't loose on the pins and make sure they turn easily. Make sure the weights aren't flatspotted or worn anywhere. Get a new primary spring if it has more than 3,000 miles on it. If you are running a red secondary spring, do not run it at less than 80* wrap, or 6-2 on the holes. Make sure secondary bushings are tight as well, that being the helix bushing and sliding sheave bushing. Also clean the clutches well. Clean them with HOT soapy water and scotch brite pad and dry with compressed air. Do the same with the belt, and make sure the belt is within specs for wear. Set your belt deflection as per allen's specs in the techfaq section in the forum.

I second that. When I first got my machine, we noticed the belt was slipping a lot, even though it had a Bender clutch kit in it. Tried various thing to stop it, washed clutches, scuffed them up, new belt (washed), more secondary twist, etc. Took the clutch apart to install heel clicker and noticed the weights were worn and had two flat spots in them.

Need to add weight to the arms would be my keyboard guess, Take a look @ the primary & you can see where the belt is slipping either bottom center or top of sheave & add weight to correct, Gearing also makes a huge diffrence on clutch efficency IMHO, Lower gearing will run much cooler clutchs than taller gearing from what I have seen.

Heavy Hitter/Heel Clicker adjustable weights make this very simple, I changed my boondocking setup a few weeks back, Had slight belt slip @ engagement so I added heel weight for better belt grab @ the holeshot/lowspeed powder running, Adding weight dropped my RPM's so to adjust for than I ended up going with a lower starting angle on my helix from 50 to 46, Went from hot clutchs to cool as can be in about 20 minutes. Hope this helps! Bushman

Thanks for the responses guys. I going to get pics of what I have on here. From research on the internet Ive come to the conclusion that I am running a set of heavy hitters.MY primary spring is orange or bright red and Im sure it has more than 3000 miles on it so If I could figure out what it is Id love to replace it. I cleaned it real well to try to find any markings on it but I couldnt find anything. Ill pop my clutch off and get some pics of what I have on there. That way you guys can steer me right. THis sled has ripped before with this set up and I know im close but just need a little more tweaking to get her right. Thanks guys Ill let you know.
