we went riding and made it 2.5 miles from home when my buddy on his 2007 phazer that's one week old and has 400 miles destroyed it. the bolt that goes into the large aluminum chunk on the ski broke riding 45m.p.h on a smooth trail right along the highway. since the bolt broke it caused the large aluminum chunk that the ski is mounted by to break in half. the ski went flying out from the sled and the A arms dug into the snow causing him to roll 2-3 times. the blue piece on the top of the bellypans is broke the bellypans poped out the handlebars, brake setup. headlight switches and steering columb are toast A arms and tie rods may be bent, tie rod boot is ripped. plastic rear part of the seat that is around the tailight is scratched, gauge is scraped and he had a bloody lip and a hurting ankle. sorry no pics we took some with the camera phones and i can't put those on here. we called the dealership and it is a good friend and riding buddy of ours that works up there as a salesman that sold him the sled. the sled almost ended up on the road. we called him from right there on the trail and he said to bring it up. we drove a truck and trailer over there and lifted it on and he's on the way up there now. i couldn't go with him but i told him to tell me what they said. he has no isurance on it. will warranty cover this or will they just cover the ski bolt and aluminum chunk

Without insurance he could be out of luck. Just hope his dealer takes responsibility for it and fixes it. Could have been a mistake by the tech that assembled the sled.

Sorry to hear this happened to your buddy. I hate writing the insurance check to the agency just like everyone else, but you better have it just in case.

There are lots of Phazers out there that do not have this problem. Something was either defective, installed incorrectly, or abused.

it was either the defective part or the installed incorectly part. this sled was definetly not abused at all. it is only a week old and he babies it

i doubt they will cover it. i bent the lower a arm and bolt on the right side of my 06 nytro. yamaha says operator error, and then gave me a qoute on the price. those front end parts are not given away. oh by the way i hit nothing also just rode through some moguls in baxter state park.

he's riding along and the ski falls off and it causes him to flip. there is no reason it should have done that and he had nothing to do with it and there was nothing he could do about it. it was basically brand new. they better cover the ski falling off their brand new snowmobile or i will be very upset with yamaha and possibly go back to cat

Listen, it's stuff like this that falls back on the DEALER. The dealer is going to have to fight for you. It's sounds like it was set up error. That's all dealer. If they don't fix it, they're just trying to bail on their responsibility.
True Short Story: On my very first ride on my brand spankn' new 02 viper, I crossed a ditch a put the shock through the top of my belly pan and into the pipe. Why? The top shock bolt just fell out. It was lying in the bottom of the belly pan along with the washer and nut....pristine. Come to find out that the *** hat part timer that assembled a mojority of the sleds didn't loc-tite or torque wrench nothing on a lot of new sleds. They fired the guy and immediately admitted responsibility for the mishap and I had my sled back, good as new the following weekend. obviously free.
I would change the title if I were you. This is an isolated mishap, not an across the board major recall.

yea change the title! The snowmobile is not bad because a bolt broke?
you better make sure you have all the pieces maybe it was over torqued and stretched? Sounds to me it was ALL dealer set-up or lack of.
