My bro in law happens to own a 1998 XTC-P 700 (powder special) with about 3000 miles on it. It used to belong to my Dad until 2002 when he bought his Viper. The sled is in perfect stock form and looks and runs perfect. Any ideas what it's worth. I'm thinking of buying it back into our family for a spare sled. He wants to get a 4 stroke.

Whats the difference from a XTC? Is it a long track or have a large lug track or what?

Sorry guys.......It was a special order sled only that year. It came with 1.5" lug camoplast 121" track with the wider windows like Yamaha always had back then. It also came with a red skidplate and black plastic skis. The regular XTC's had the .75" lug track and steel skis that year. It was NOT in the 1998 brochure. The only reason I knew about it was I attended the MPLS. show that year and they had one displayed. I told my Dad about it because he had already spring checked his XTC700. The dealer thought I was nuts ,but when he called Yamaha ,sure enough it existed for another $200. He then changed his order.

What were you trying to find? That thing is screwy sometimes and it took me a while to get it to work going back that far. I had to manually change the address in the address bar to get it to show me the older models on that page. For some reason the US Yamaha site doesn't go back as far as the Canada site. They must have started caching the Canadian site before they did the US site. Either that or Yamaha in Canada had a website before they had one in the US.

Nice job shortstop........OK back to the subject......what's it worth? I'm thinking $1500-2000. It's got around 2600 miles and looks like new. Of course I know the history of the machine being it has been in the family. I want to add triples and reed spacers to it which would make it a fun off trail sled. When my dad owned it, it was a fun machine in deeper snow. Triples would make it even better. I have always loved that older non valved 700 triple. Just a bullet proof motor.
