Hi,
I have an 03 SX Viper ER.
In all the illustrations I've seen the front arm bushings look like a sleeve with a collar. On mine all there is a fiber washer and a metal backer. Before I put it back together I just want to know if the illustration is misleading or I'm missing something.
Thanks

I have seen them wear out until they separate leaving the sleeve in the trailing arm and what looks like a washer on the outside. The metal washer is supposed to be there.

What ding said. When my skid was out I notice my left side bushing had separated from its main body. I just put it back on and installed the skid. The main part of the bushing is somewhere in the w arm. I just wanted the plastice ring part in its place to keep the same clearence along with the metal washer.

Thanks for all the replys.
The bushing I was referring to is the one for the front torque arm of the rear suspension.
I cannot open the illustrations for Port Yamaha so I went to hlsm.
They list it as #6 Bush, Solid.
Whatever is left of mine is anything but solid.
What remains reminds me of the fiber washers that were used on oil pan plugs.
Anyway, I'm going to order what they list as solid bushings and washer plates.
Thanks again
Steve

Yes, those bushings wear out completely leaving strange looking pieces behind. I have a bunch lying on the floor right now from 2 skids I rebuilt recently. Time to clean up the shop for sure.

I'll order more than one replacement set.
