hey there everyone ! I'm new to this site, and I have been hunting for a specific sled now for 2 yrs or so. today I picked up my dream sled.... 2004 viper Er (Black & silver) bought it from an older man who bought it new, and never drove it.. get this it has 600 km on it... thats right 600 lmao !!!!! works like a top and is in mint shape I mean mint (I'll post some pics in pics section later) The viper came with a brand new cover ($275) and 4 liters of amsoil sythenetic... 2 brand new belts and new spare plugs.. all this for only $4500 Canadian dollars what a deal .. I'm glad I waited for over 2 years now for this model of sled. finally I found it . I was patient, and it paid off. Hope you guys are all doing well and I hope this shitty weather doesn't mean riding is over ? sorry if my spelling bad but I am so excited over my new sled.. I just had to rush home and tell all you guys.. I'm like a 5 yr old at Christmas time lol.
With this sled everything is stock, should I leave it that way ? I plan on studding the track for sure. should I do some clutch work etc.... or just leave it and drive on worry free.?
Oh yeah I almost forgot... FOR SALE : 1997 xcr 600 with triple pipes... mint shape $2500 Pass it on (never ever again will I consider anything but a Yamaha )
Cheers !

As for fogging an engine, you should get used to using the search feature on the site... it's up in the top right corner. Just about every question you will ask has been discussed in great length before. Some times the search button can be hard to use as it only searches certain length words, but it at least helps.
Fogging the motor is just a summer storage process that every person should go through when storing the sled until next winter. The way I like to do it is idle the sled for a good 5-10 minutes with the oil cable pulled right full open. It just protects all the inner components of the motor from moisture and corrosion.

yeah ok thats what i thought he meant I've just never heard that term before. well I won't be driving this sled much this year so I'll definately be doing some fogging here shortly. I plan on having a look at the carbs and the PV's etc. but will probably wait until fall when I get it ready for next season's riding. sorry I missed the search button feature like I mentioned I'm new here but by looking around I see there sure is alot of cool / helpful information on this site. I'll be comming back regularly now for sure. alot of helpful ppl here too, and that surely helps people like me who aren't as mechanicaly inclined thank god my brother is a licenced small engine mechanic, and is a total sled head himself. he went with me to look at the sled and looked it all over and said I'd be crazy if I didn't buy it because he said it was virtually a brand new sled. I'll put him to work on the fogging treatment soon.
I got the sled south of Ottawa. and I live outside of kingston I saw it in the trader fri night I called the guy at 9:30 pm then I was at his door sat morning with my trailer at 10 to pick it up. Guarantee the first person to see this sled would have bought it. Glad it was me lol ... thanks for the help guys if you have any ideas about mods for this sled, or things to be aware of for this model please pass on the info to me
Cheers !

There is a picture for you. I really like those too. I was torn between the black and red (Viper S) and the black and silver that year. I did the black and silver thinking I could add the shocks and track later if I wanted them. I still haven't done the shocks or track three years later. But I added some heel clickers last weekend and have some pipes for it for next season. I would still like to get the track done. Probably a six pitch or ripsaw without studs.

I was looking for an (s) too. but man they are hard to find seems most of them are in the U.S where I am, The blue and the red ones are a dime a dozen, I'm not a fan of the blue and I almost bought a couple of the red ones but never did. anyway I'm glad I found what I did. love the looks of yours They sure are a great looking sled. How does yours work with the heel clickers ? I am definatley gonna stud mine next year, but I read somewhere that you have to change the drives or something with this model in order to stud it ? anyone know about this ?
