98 crank rod bearing went out...will a viper crank work? 98 cylinders have been ported to 2000 and newer dimensions, can a 2001 cylinder and head replace a 98 cylinder and head? If anyone has a crank let me know..thanks

for the crank you need to stick with a 98-99 unit from either a 700srx or a 600srx, the newer cranks and cases wont interchange, the 2000-02, and including viper have a differnt pto bearing and the case is differnt for the bearing locating pin and also for the 300 watt ign. used, with the smaller flywheel, the ign pulsar coil sits closer to the crank centerline.
As for the cylinder as long as all your port heights are the same it doesnt matter which year you use, but the 98 cylinders dont use the powervalve locating pins, no big deal. The heads are a differnt size dome and squish clearance, the 98-99 heads are lower compression and larger chamber then the 2000-02, as long as you use the heads as a 3 pc set no problem on interchanging them.
