Snow flap wire

What do you guys use to keep the snow flap from going up on top of the track when using reverse? There used to be a W shaped wire available from Cat (I think) but haven't seen any such thing lately and the studs are chewing the shit out of my flap.

One thing I've tried is taking a strip of aluminum the length of the width of your flap (where it mounts) and about 3 1/2" wide. Make two bends lenthwise so it makes a wedge with about 1/2" at the base then mount it to the tunnel and the flap to the other side. Essentially this makes the flap sit more horizontally similar to how the new style Yami flaps do, while at the sametime lifting it off the ground more. So far it's worked quite well, the only time I run over it now is when I back into some deep snow.

heres a small pic to illustrate what I'm talking about.

u can take a pice of limiter strap and bolt it in the center of the flap and wrap it around the rear grab bar. we use it on the race sleds at work to keep them from gettin the flaps sucked in.

yep what terret said..use a piece of ratchet strap or tie down, bolt it too the snow flap on the outside (under the yamaha logo) then wrap the other end around the rear bumper with another bolt...free and easy.

It's one thing on a race sled but on a trail sled I think it just looks bad IMO. But at least it works.

Carbon: what are you referring to from Royal? Do you have a page #?

I remember Royal used to have them in the catalogue but I didn't see them this year. The limiter strap or ratchet strap idea would solve the problem but I'd like to find a way that was unseen;I may just try bending a piece of aluminum for a spacer/wedge and see how that works.

I think you will find it works quite well, I'm pretty heavy so the sled probably sits lower but I can now back it off the trailer slowly and not catch the flap (at least it doesn't get caught in the track). Like I said earlier just don't back up into the deep stuff and you won't have a problem.

If you look real close in this picture you can sort of see the wedge I made
