Bought a '85 ss440 this fall for $50. owner said it started to viabrate bad and he shut it down. Finally tore into it today and found the PTO rod bearing shot. Bearing gone;washers gone; rod damaged; piston skirt broke. Everythink else looks fine. Piston and rings need to be purchased. But I do have a NOS connecting rod kit on the shelf. As I've never done any of my own cranks, my question is this.....
Am I better off finding a used crank to replace this one?
Or do I pay someone to split the crank and replace the rod assy with my rod kit that I've already got?

Looking for you opionions here!!
