Im thinking of purchasing another sled this year. My wife rides a vmax 600 now but i have slowly taken over the thing. I like the vmax so I figured she'd get the new purchase. Much easier to get another sled if she gets to ride it,Right! We like to trail ride. I wouldnt go as far to say shes aggressive on the trail but can keep up. Id like to have electric start and reverse. Good power and most of all a suspension that can handle the bumps and handle well. I like to wrench but Id like a sled without doing a bunch of upgrades wright away. I want it to be a two stoke also. Is The Viper The Sled? If so What Year. Or is there another model to consider?
 

2003 or newer viper er or a 2002 Viper ER if it has had the shock upgrade. No way to tell if it has the shock upgrade by looking at them - the owner needs to know or you may be able to check the vin # at your dealer. Good Luck!
 
I think if you get the viper... you'll find yourself slowly taking over that one too! The viper is a great sled, smooth power, quiet, good on fuel etc. Both of you will love it i'm sure. The shock upgrade was already mentioned so... you know about that.
 
I bought a left over 2004 viper er from a local dealer a month ago for $5500 brand new. zero miles. I love this sled. put 500 miles on it so far. I ride hard. love to ditch bang and alot of WOT. no problems so far. good on gas and fast too. once you set up the suspension you`ll be all set but like they said above once you ride the viper you`ll take that one from your wife. I`m looking to buy a red one for my wife.
 
I love mine. Once the rear shocks were revalved it is a pleasure to ride. Fast enough for me. Good luck.
 
I'll sell ya mine! Yeah right!!! Mine is a great sled love it, just trying to decide if I should put the M10 in or sell it and get a Boss Seat.
 
i love my viper, but it i where to buy a sled for my g-friend it would be something easyier to handle and better on th ebumps.

I would buy a rev 600HO sdi, or a phazer.
 
Get yerself the viper...if you can..a 2004 ER...or Viper S with ER updates...but the other years are just as good...the 2004 has better ergos(hand thumwarmers) and DCS...
I'm agreeing with Concept...if your buying for her...Somthing similer or lighter than the Vmax...I used to always like a fan cooled, none studded in my fleet for the wife..or for me kicking around in the fields...great for warmer days aswell...

thanks guys. Cant wait to buy the wife a new sled. Just have to find a red one. thats the only request she has. It will be hard not to take it over, but Im sure I'll use it when the boys go riding.
 
Have you ridden any of the four strokes? You may be surprised. The Vectors are real nice slightly agressive trail sleds. The Viper is a good sled if you are real agressive, of course you will want more power if you are that agressive.
 
I was in a very similar situation...had a 97 Vmax 600, then bought an 03 Viper ER for myself, the 600 went to my wife. She rode my viper and I had to keep prying it back from her, so I found her a nice 02 Viper ER last spring. She absolutley loves it and I got mine back! Needless to say the 600 was sold. Plenty of nice Vipers out there right now and pretty great prices too. Good luck in your search...maybe find yourself a pair of them!
 
I just bought a 2004 viper er a few weeks ago, and it only had 600 kms on it. I love this thing. rides perfect, it needs studs and to set the rear suspension to hold my big arse but all in all it is a wicked sled I would reccommend this sled to anyone. But like another poster said before you will want to steal this one away from the wife too. maybe you better buy 2 of them to avoid fights :)

the 04 vipers ride totally different than the 02's and 03's. suspension is softer and seat is more comfortable. my wifes 04 er is night and day better than my 02 was stock. the center shock on the skid is similar to the pps on the polaris but i dont think it is rebuildable.
 
go with the viper for sure.... and viperscoot i hear you can lose alot of weight with those boss seats and they look awsome just sell the m10 to me and youll be set haha
