well took the sled out for the last ride of the season last week and across this once field it pulled 8900rpm... hmm weird, usually pulls 8200 then works its way up to 8500 over a lake.... keep going... next field pulls 9700rpm immediatly i hauled her down as id idnt know whats up then when its sittin there when i jab the throatlle it goes from 2 to 6 grand in a snap... way to fast then the motor coudl ever do.... anyone have any ideas whats going on i dont wana ride it in case its acutally pulling those RPMs shell detoate pretty quick

have you done any clutch work since the last ride, if not give the clutch the once over check all components to the clutch. did it perform wierd in any way the last time you run it?

see if you can borrow a tach from someone near you that has a viper to verify that its your tach. Did you notice if it sounded like it was running faster than it used to. If you know your sled well you can fairly easily hear a 1500 rpm increase. A dyno will also tell you what you are revving so you can verify loosely with your tach.
check your primary rollers and weights. if they go bad you will over rev big time

clutching is the exact same didnt change a thing.....definatly doesnt sound like the motor is overreving.... im used to my sled by now and that is a huge increase.... ill double check my clutching tho
quick queston tho i installed a tether a week ago for Drags... then took it off and taped it all up if thats shorting would it cause a difference? other than that i think im gonna have to order a diff tach.... im the only yammy in our group... so cant really borrow one off a cat
