Ok, We just picked up a 98 Yamaha 25 hp outboard. Actually we traded out 15 hp Evinrude for it. The Yamaha probably needs a little maintenance, primarily the impeller. I can get the kits for like $30 but I don't know for sure how the install is for a Yamaha. Is there a place for the outboards like we have for our sleds? I've downloaded the owner's manual from the Yamaha website.
Also, the guy said it was a 98. I'm not so sure. I have the model # and serial number, isn't there a way to check?

It would work best for you to also have a service manual.

I've been looking in amazon and such. The model is 25ELHP. I know that translates to a 1991. However for a 1991, it should have the date on the tag. There's no date on the tag. The guy we bought it from said he bought it new and it was a 98. I'd think it would mean it was a 25elhx(or w).
The issue is that I want to get a new water impeller for it and there's a difference between 91 and 98. I've seen photo's of a 91 and ours doesn't look like that. Plus I don't know how long Yamaha has been doing oil injection in their smaller outboards and we have that.

I've been on boats.net or something like that. They have a yamaha outboard forum. Not quite as helpful as here, that's for sure.

I'm with Flying dutchman, Iboats.com forum is great for boat help. Though I'm on the dark side with outboard, I've got a Johnson/Suzuki 4 stroke (got it before yamaha had EFI 4 strokes)
I had always had Johnson/Evinrude OB's before. This Yamaha just kinda came out of no where. I'm wishing now we had some more documentation for it.
