will viper rear shocks fit in a rear 98 sx vmax skid?

Yes, they fit when you install longer limiter straps from an SX-R or Vmax XTC with the long travel suspension. You also need the slightly longer control rods. Many just purchase the quick rods "adjustable control rods". The ride will be greatly improved over what you have.
 
you don't need longer limiters just let yours all the way out. It will end up the same as long straps pulled up 25 mm. Maxdlx
