A friend got me interested in it. The season starts in April. I had planned on selling my SRX to upgrade but now may convert it to asphalt. They're fast on the lake & imagine the same to be true at the track. Does anyone here do this?
I'm generally familiar with the set up & cool down carts, etc. My biggest question would be the skid set up...how many/type of wheels. Any other suggestions. Thanks.

I have about 3 years under my belt racing asphalt, its alot of fun, clean and they are wicked fast against bikes and cars.

I have something that might be of intrest to you, just bolt in your engine and go fast, its easier then setting up the whole sled, then tearing it all apart again for snow, theres only 6 engine bolts.Theres a ad in the classified with all the parts on it, you cant buy the parts for the price of the entire rolling chassis, $2500

I could write a bok on asphalt racing!!! BUT I WON'T!!! 99SRX ran 10.19's ALL DAY LONG!!! I put a NITROUS kit on it and tried to race it (about 5 years ago)... FOUGHT WITH NHRA tooth and nail and was threatened the WHOLE NINE YARDS!!! Could have had a case in court and would have WON,,, BUT,,,,, I couldn't find a lawyer CHAEP enough to take it!!!! (ALSO didnt have the $15,000.00 RETAINER!!!) To make a long story short....... DON'T get TOO INVOLVED (like I did!!!) and you will have a good time.. The racers aren't as friendly as the AUTOMOTIVE guys are to me these days,,,but,,,nevertheless,,, like TONY said,,,,, 10 good things about it!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

AND TOO ADD TOO GARY POST, MY PRO,s AND CON,s ARE BASIS SET-UP FOR BRACKET TAR RACING. RUN YOUR NUMBER AND HAVE FUN. I LOVED IT. ONE RUN AND I WAS HOOKED. BUT REMEBER, AND GARY WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN, THE REV I RAN IS A TRAIL SLED IN THE WINTER HERE IN NY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

That's what I wanna here. This winter was such a downer around here & I just didn't get my fill of two stroke smoke. I've got myself convinced to do it. I'm going to see my buddy run in a few weeks, that should put me over the edge. I've never run races of any kind before, so am a bit nervous about it. But at the same time very excited. Thanks for the input.

be warned ahead of time, its addictive!!.......LOL

one time going and youll want to go faster, faster and faster..............

I run aspahlt too it's very addicting.Srx's run very well.
My buddies stock srx with the air box removed and stock jetting, stock clutching and down 1tooth ran 10.68@117mph.He only ran a few times and we never messed with the suspension it ran horriable 60fts 1.57's every pass and it still ran thos 1/4 mile et's

That rolling chasis looks awesome. But my intensions were to make this an asphalt only sled. I bought it VERY cheap from a guy last Fall, without giving it a whole lot of thought. I'm not a speed demon on the trail, more of a ditchbanger & wannabe boondocker. This was gonna be my back-up & for my wife a few times per year. I thought I'd sell it & get something to fit my profile a bit better. Now I'm ALMOST convinced to keep it. Your sled just makes me want to jump right in. I'm gonna watch my bud in a few weeks & try to get some more advice/direction from some experienced guys. Thanks,Fro.

Today theres NOTHING WronG with NITROUS on a sled.. i had a VERY DETRiMENTAL effect and I probably had MORE TO DO WITH it than I EVEN KNOW ABOUT bringing NITROUS to the NHRA!!!! When i raced NHRA tracks,, there was a rule called NO NITROUS,,,NO WAY!!!!!... on their (nhra) website they advertised ED ENSOR doing MID EIGHTS on NITROUS (around 167mph). they had the WHOLE STORY and ED held the WORLD RECORD on ASPHALT!!!!! I had that story in my hand when I went to NHRA after they told me NO ASPHALT NO WAY!!!! i said "what about this article and WHAT ABOUT ED???"... They told me " listen PUNK,,, you don't have enough money to sue the NHRA"........ They were right.... I raced at IHRA tracks for a few years and sold the sled and bought a RACECAR!!!!! NHRA had trouble with a WONDERFUL LADY named MEG.. Meg had a really great program and a LOT of INTEREST!!! SHe was a TOP NOTCH individual.... SHE wanted the ASPHALT thing to take off... people like watching PROSTOCK and FUEL CARS,,, Thats what pays the bills,,,, NHRA is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY........ they werent interested in meg or meg's little snowmobiles.... meg was a THORN in their side (just like I was).. the only difference between MEG and I was SHE HAD enough backing to take NHRA to court.... needless to say,,, she WON BIGTIME and WILL NOT even talk about it!!!! I know a few people that know her well and thats all they will tell you is that she is now at PEACE with it!!!!! (not happy,,,but at peace)... mark giamattei was another guy who stuck his neck out with the asphalt scene... i forgot his partners name,,,but another GENUINE GOOD GUY!!!! The only guy I know that has KEPT UP WITH IT is 3:16,,, GOD BLESS HIM!!!!! ANOTHER GENUINE INDIVIDUAL!!!! A GOOD GUY!!!! get into ASPHALT RACING!!!!! its AWSOME,,,you'll LOVE IT..... Try and NOT get involved with the politics!!!! keep with the rules and Dont try and BUCK the system and you will do FINE!!!! There is a guy who owns a carlot in KENOSHA that you want to keep away from!!!! he was a decent guy when he started (around the same time as i started) but he turned into a REAL WEENIE!!!! Long story about that guy,,,but,,,,WEENIE!!!!!!!

I think his name was JON.... He got too GREEDY and TOO MUCH power and it went to his head ( kinda like MOST of the guys who started programs 8-9-10-years ago) Like I said,,, the ONLY GENUINE guy left out there is 3:16... Started out "for the sport" and not HIS POCKETBOOK and STILL IS "about the sport" and NOT HIS pocketbook!!!! he's kinda far from Chicago,,,but,,,, I wish there were MORE GUYS LIKE HIM in our area!!!! Mile Knapp is another "good guy" and the guy I raced(and beat) OUTLAW at the grove (the guy with the red hair and glasses) another GOOD GUY!!!! I dont remember their names,,,but,,, their faces i will never forget... here was another guy from Minnesota (I think) that pitted next to me.... (slept in his trailer overnite)... don't remember his name,,,but,,, GENUINELY GOOD PEOPLE!!!! Boy,,,,that brings back some GOOD MEMORIES!!!! GOOD NIGHT!!!! What do you know,,, thats where I got "nosboy" from....... gary Oles nosboy

I almost forgot about you John,,,, PROLINE PERFORMANCE... John WHeelock!!!! a GREAT GUY!!!!!

I know jon Z !!! Thats the guy that turned into a weenie!! he was allright when he started doing it,,but,,,turned inta a real weenie!!!! I havent seen this other guy since I beat him..

KEEP IN MIND WHAT GARY HAS POSTED, BUT DO IT WITH THE IDEA OF THE LOVE OF RACING SLEDS. ITS A ROIT. THE GREAT THING ABOUT IT IS '' THE FASTEST IS NOT ALWAYS FIRSTEST !!! lol. 3:16 (yammie tony)

3:16
CON,s
1. SUMMER HEAT WITH LEATHERS ON

THINK OF THE WEIGHT YOU WILL SWEAT OFF FOR JACOBEYS LOL!!!!! THE MORE YOU RACE THE MORE WORRIED MARK WILL BE THAT HE MIGHT LOSE HIS JOB!! Good luck to you if you go racing on the tar, I'm sure you'll do very well for yourself Tony. Josh
