If I had to check the muffler for an obstruction, how would I do that? You shake the can it does not make a sound, but if it were clogged how would you clean it out? Very curious. Thanks.

use a shop vac

I had a mouse nest in one of my mufflers (silencers) one time. I took the can off and then put the shop vac hose in the outlet and sealed it with a rag. I then put the shop vac on "blow" and blew the nest out of the inlet.
A shop vac will deliver high volume and force your obstructoin out where-as an airhose will deliver only pressure. It usually takes both to get an obstruction out of a closed space. With the high volume you will build pressure until the obstruction comes out. With an air hose you can't build volume so it is much less affective.

muffler madness

Thanks for the tip. I had air blow'n in, vacuum suck'n out, came up with nuth'n. Must be clear, volume seemed good, but part of me wants to cut it open! Thanks.
