Well last week i thought it was jsut the tach going crazy readin too high rpms went and tested it again tonight and now it seems when i go up in rpm on a stand lets say 5000rpm... the temp light fades on and tries to flash red..... again last week riding the tach went nuts reading way to high of rpms and fluctuating very fast like 2000-6000rpm instanstly.... now the temp light is trying to come on... its not actually completing a flash so i cant read it and diagnois is but im stuck..... i think my problem is electrical any ideas what woudl cause the tach to go crazy and now my temp light ??

thanks

It sounds like a rubbed through wiring harness underneath the motor.... I've read quite a few posts on here that have had the same symptoms as you have and its been the wiring harness. I guess theres been quite a few problems with it in the SRX's. Pull the wiring harness out and inspect it very carefully and it should cure your problem.

Good luck

TTT... would putting a tether on affect anything? cause i had to put a tether on for 660 racing and it may have shorted out once or twice as the connectors we put in were jsut tempory... but since then i removed it and taped it all up good... and it had zero of these problems with the tether installed woudl of been two rides later

I don't know exactly... I know that those symptoms by the sounds of them are usually always caused by a wire shorting out in the wiring harness... So if by chance the tape shifted or what not it could be the problem.... Your best bet is to remove the wiring harness underneath the engine and very carefully inspect every wire inside. Chances are you will find the problem. It seems to be very common, and those symptoms sound very familiar

Exactly. I agree that you need to check that wiring harness first, very high chance that that is your problem right now, and if its not it right now it will be someday. Sooner or later the srx and viper wiring harnesses ALL will rub through.

i ended up cutting my harness and rewired it. Got tired of fighting the clamps under the motor. I should have done that right away.

just picked up my sled from the shop with the exact same problem and it was the wiring harness was rubbing i can %100 assure you thats what it is because my tach went crazy and the temp light was going on and offf when i was full of coolant you are having the identical problem i did!!!!!!!!!!!!

this should save you alot of time knowing this is your problem
my handwarmer also needed replacement to
