Just went to the Yamaha parts online catalog and they show the Stator listed under generator, and it is an all or none deal. What is the function of the condensor, in these non battery operated ignition systems? and could this possibly be the problem I am experiencing with the lights and tach? Thanks, dealers don't seem to have anymore idea than I do. Ron

Describe your problem better. The stator contains the lighting/charging/grip coils.

The condenser basically smothes out the dc circuit so devices that have circuit boards can use it. The tach and fuel senser are most sensitive to this condition.

Tach isn't working, neither are the lights. I swapped out the tach with one form my 01 SXR and it doesn't work in the SRX harness. I did an ohmeter test on the lighting coil, and believe it was supposed to read 3 Ohms, meter isn't sensitive enough to determine it only shows infinity. Others have suggested that I may have a broken wire on the cable running underneath the engine. I'll have to look into that in the fall. Spring is here and I have tons of other things to get done before the weather breaks even more than it has. Thanks Ron
