Hi guys, Just joined your cool site...Looking forward to hop on board!... I've already owned a "98" SRX 600, & now have picked up a mint "2000"- SRX 700.. , But it came with a blown motor. It has 2300 miles, & I've already started to tear it down. Middle piston & rod bearing are toast... I'm just waiting for my clutch remover to come in, so I can get the heart of the beast out. Any body have a ballpark estimate, worst case scenerio, what I'm looking at price wise?? I've been working on toys all my life, but I'm going to let the dealer handle the splitting cases part..
Any imput will be appreciated..! Thanks in advance.
Mike....

a new piston is probably $50 and around $350 for a used crank or around $200 or so to get your fixed(that's what mine was). Why are you going to let the dealer split the cases. there's nothing to it

If you let the dealer do everything rebuild wise and let them prep it for storage I think for next season it gernades again you would have a good case against them. Just make sure you use good syn oil.
If you do it your self make sure you fog the engine real good put fuel stable in and for next fall clean the carbs and check the power valves and you should be good to go. These little engines are under high stress and need a good oil to protect them.

oils blue marble

i bought 01 srx the guy i bought from was useing blue marble. I have a 98 srx and i always used amsoil . What do you guys thick of blue marble .idont care about price. more about quality and dependability. so far to me it is very clean burning.

I had to use amsoil this season and well I guess its OK but when I pulled the power valves they were dirty faster than normal. Last season I used Ipone and the valves were alot cleaner longer. Next season Ill start back with Ipone and stick with it.
