I know this subject has been talked about many times before, but I need
some professional opinions so that I don't make the wrong choice here. I
would like to here from fellow TY members on what type of track to install
on a 2000 SXr 700. It is normally always driven on grommed trails. Right now I have the orginal track on it which is a 121. I am looking at a 1'' hacksaw fully clipped or 1 1/4'' ripsaw fully clipped or a 1 1/4'' quiet ripsaw track fully clipped. I would appreciate anyone steering me in the right direction here.

What advantages or disadvantages is there in having a fully clipped track.

I like 1-1/4 no matter what. I also run fully clipped tracks.

Pros and cons....dont know any. I just like to throw snow!~

a fully clipped track is a must for extrovert/no-slip drivers, and prolly gives you a little more lube to your slides

I would stay with a fully clipped track for trail riding. As already mentioned you will want the lube. When the clips melt to the slide rails...it's no fun.
We put a fully clipped ripsaw on my son's 2001 SX-R last year. You will have to clip the lugs off to keep it from rubbing on the tunnel protectors. You will also have to replace the front heat exchanger protectors with thinner ones for clearence. We studded it this year with 96 1.250 Woody's Mega-bites. Studs have very slightly touched the tunnel and the front heat exchanger.
Overall he is very happy with the track. Very good traction. It's the quiet running version which is amazingly quiet even at high speeds. I ride an SRX that needs a new track. I plan to opt for the hacksaw just because of the clearence issues.

Good luck.

Thank's for the information. It sounds like the 1 1/4 ripsaw is a good choice but you will have to do more work to make it right. The other choice is a 1'' hacksaw with no modifications. Can you buy a 1'' hacksaw fully clipped. I am looking at Track USA & they don't seem to have these.
Any information would be helpfull.

If you don't plan on studding and want to run 1 1/4" just take the tunnel protectors off, problem solved! As for the hacksaw call Bruce at tracks usa, I'm sure he has them even if you don't see it on his website. He is one of the biggest dealers for tracks in the country and is excellent to deal with.

One of the parts books I have shows a 121" hacksaw fully clipped #9043H.
I'm just saying from experience I would stay with a fully clipped track.
The 1-1/4 ripsaw rubs harder on the front heat exchanger protectors than the tunnel protectors. If you don't plan to stud it you could remove them as swede pointed out.

Good luck,

Thank's to everyone for all the information. It was very helpful in deciding what tracks would work for me.
