Hi Every One!

I been searching this forum but i couldn't find any thing about this, but maybe i just really bad.

I saw that people how hade the B.B. hauck kit for the twin enginge was disapointed on the power in them and that the reliability in them is bad.

I been told that the light weight tripple isn't at all that much heavier then the twin. But the SRX engine is much heavier. I was told the the race sleds (cross or just trail racers) often is build on the sx tripple, but is also told that it would be nicasil in my 98 vmax500xt. And there is nicasil in it, right?

If anyone knows anything please enlighten me.
I'm thinking that maybe i should think about another engine then the twin, but i want to keep the sled as light as possible. I not intressed in any super high top speeds just a nice fun bumpy trail racer :)

Yes people often build up the 700 red head lightweight triples, but there is a lot more power potential in building up the 700 powervalve from the srx. It is just a much more advanced engine with more potential. But dont get my wrong, you can still make the 700 red head's scream too with some mods and tuning :2strokes:

The motor mount location and mount itself are differnt between the red head triples and a srx engine. The srx engine while more powerfull in stock form also requires the fitment of the triple pipes to work, and anything other then a srx bulkhead/bellypan plastic will take some fabrication skills to fit.

I think alot of people overlook the output potential of the red head triples, they can even scream with the single pipe on them if they are done right. Its all about knowing what to mod on them. they were seriously under tuned from the factory, where as the srx leave alot less on the table as far as gains go.

that is why i might be dealing with you very soon for some mods on my red head triple!

Okey.

I been told that the power valve tripple has more weight then the lightweight. Is that true? Anyone who knows?

Also i been told that it is possible to put in steel sleeves and go without nicasil. I dont know if steel sleeves is the right word.

I can bore it in the workshop I work and make the sleeves too so that i not a problem.

I hope you understand my bad english.

Dave don did a motor for me and I'm running the stock pipe and it hauls but.A few weeks a go we where doing some lake racing 1000ft on snow and I beat lot's of f7's a few apex's and other big sleds. The thing hauls but for a single pipe.

yes it would really be a rocket. If you tuned it in.It all come dosn to the set up.Jetting, clutching, etc

Doesn't any one know anything about replacing the nicasil with a steel sleeve?
Heard today another one saying that he thinks it would be better with a sleeve then nicasil

No, the nickasil out performs the sleeve by far. A sleeved engine cant be run as lean, because the steel sleeve retains heat and doesnt transfer heat away from the piston as does a plated aluminum cylinder. you never wanna sleeve a modern 2 stroke engine, they dont run as well as before from the said drawbacks.

Okey.

Thanks mrviper700. That is what i was expecting. There should be a reason why its nicasil on modern engine. Is steel sleeves much much worse? I had such high hopes.
By the way mrviper700, i dont know the english word for this but you might know it, i'll try to descripe it to you. Loose combustionchamber. I try to upload a picture of it.
Do you know anything or know some place were i can get some info about thoose.

those are just called "domes", you can machine them to any spec you need usually. The size of the dome in "cc" equates to the compression ratio in the engine where as also the squishband contributes to this as well, the ones pictured have a nice wide squishband. I personally like to have the squishband width set up at 40-50% of the bore.
