Hi guys!
Yesterday I got a Viper Mountain.
I think the stock handlebar feels a little "low rider-ish". I don`t think that it`s too low, it`s just that its tilted too far "back" , I want it more forward.
This morning I tried tilting it forward but there was a knob on the handlebar that restricted the forward tilting.
Do you guys grind it of and tilt it more forward?.
I guess the reason for the knob is that they don`t want to stress the cable/wire harness too much?.
It would be really cool if someone could tell us their handlebar setup, did you change the handle bar?. Did you put a riser on?.
I must say that a handlebar looks "meaner" without the stock foam surrounding it. Any of you guys have an "apex" looking setup?.
Feel free to post pictures.. that would be really cool.
Should I just fit a little powermadd cheap riser, I guess this will alow me to tilt the bar more forward without removing the knob, not that removing the knob is a problem.. wellwell.
Ofcourse I`m going to put hooks on it and probably also guards.
Oh, will the stock strap fit an aftermarked bar?.
Joakim.

You van grind the knob off.I would try to find a pivot riser. That way you can move the bars alot farther forward.DSo it's almost like a rider forward postion and it's easier to manuever and throw the sled around in the deep stuff.
I installed a 1" riser block and then took a drimel tool and ground a slot in the factor clamp where the pin hits about an 1/8" deep to allow the pin to move back some more. My handle bars now set up straight and an inch higher, makes a great position for me.....I'm 5'8" tall. I can now stand straight up on the running boards.
Not a very good shot, best I have.

Back when I had stock bars i used a 2" block with it and it was a good height for me, im 5'11." I went to the pro tapers/pivot when I mashed my chest into the stock bars and bent them. I dont remember my stockers having the knob on it.
Heres my current setup

Aw, just do a couple face plants over the handle bars like I did when I first got my Viper. No more knob left . . . just kidding, I would go with a pivot riser as they really need to be farther forward as well as higher.

Gees guys I just wrote a huge reply and then my PC shut down by itself.
Thanks alot for the replies, nice to see what setups you are running.
Today I removed the knob and tilted the handlebar more foreward.
My eyes went wide open as I tested the riding position afterwards, it felt soo much better. I was infact pretty happy with it, hopefully I will get to test it on the mountain before ALL the snow is gone, so then I can say for sure wether I liked it or not.
If I can keep it stock then it will save me some money.. .
Here`s the knob you have to remove in order to tilt the handlebar more forward.
I somehow think the handlebar is high enough, but maybe my opinion will change after putting some miles on the sled.
A tall handlebar looks cool, but I wount get one for that reason.
Pro116 how is your setup to ride?. Looked damn cool.. rather expensive too I guess.
I recommend everyone who has a MTN Viper to remove the knob and tilt the handlebar more forward. Made a huge difference.

just loosen the bars a little, pull them back some & push them forward real quick. you should be able to snap that pin off. I went to www.gravity worx racing they have risers throttle extention, brake line extendtion, complete kits. I went with a 2" block & 5" risers what a big impovement. MY $.02 THE PORK

Ole's riser's are cut at 30 degrees on the bottom so they not only rise but move foward.

If you have a Mnt Viper, doing this here trick is the ticket. I am 5' 11" and I did not need any higher of a riser than stock once I removed this knob (dremel tool took care of it really fast!) and then I tilted the handlebar forward until it was straight up and down.
It works very well with the Boss Highrise Flat top seat.

Those look really nice and not bad price comparatively to other risers.smittysnow said:Ole's riser's are cut at 30 degrees on the bottom so they not only rise but move foward.

A K MtnViper, did you have to extend your cables at all to add that 2" riser in your sled? When I did mine the cables were all a tangled mess in there under the pad I did not think I could get a riser in there -- even just an extra 2"!A K MtnViper said:I snaped my pin off, added 2 inch riser and pushed bars forward. About the 2" riser you installed.........
I have my handle bars off and I'm interested in rising the bars up a little more with a riser. I've already removed the knob from the handle bars and moved the handlebars forward, but I was thinking a riser would help also...
But it seems it came stock with a 2" powermadd riser -- i already have a 2" riser on there! It's possible the prior owner had installed it.........
Did your Mnt Viper also come stock with that powermadd 2" riser? If so, did you add another riser on top of that one, or did you replace that one with a 4" riser?
Thanks

Someone else must have added a riser before you bought it. The Mt Viper handlebars are taller than a reg. Viper handlebar. So you have around a 3.5" rise on your Mt. Viper, with the powermadd, compared to a shorty Viper.
