03 mtn viper, upon start up, 1 long light, 1 short. (1/2 as long). no repeat. i thought there was supposed to be three in sequence if all systems are go. cant find this one in the book. anybody?
Check wiring harness including the plug into the back of the gauge. Make sure it is dry and the rubber boot fully covers the plug.
ding, thanks for the insight. checked the harness near the gauges, found nothing with the wires. sleds been in the garage for 3 weeks waiting for parts to replace a bad cylinder(no moisture issues). any other ideas?. temp light holds on for just under a second followed by a shorter flash. not the three in short sequence i am used to. this is a new sled to our stable.

there is no diag code for 1 long, 1short. you must have missed something. check the totallyamaha.com tech pages for the diagnostic codes.
thanks for the input. thats where i was at: no code. if you read the diagnostics is it safe to assume that perhaps there is a problem with the cdi? first code says 3 flashes, cdi working properly. since the light flashes we can assume the light works. anybody else ?

is the machine acting up?
doesnt seem to be. i havent rode it. bought it with a bad cylinder, rebuilt it, and noticed the light on startup. i am going to swap out cdi and see what happens.
