I ride in New Hampshire so the conditions vary from ice to groomed and from trail to off trail. My current track is the OE .92 with 144 1.075 Mega Bites. No hook up on groomed trails. Hooks up ok on ice and hardpack from the studs. I am looking at the Hacksaw 1 inch with predrilled 144 and was thinking 1.175 Gold Diggers. Or driver change to 8 tooth and a 1.25 ripsaw with studs. Would have to do a gear change for the driver change? What would be the way to go? Cost effective to results? Will it be a big difference over stock no matter what I go with? And would I have better hole shot than now? I tried everything to get this one to hook up out of the hole and it just doesn't. Some say it is the track and some say it is the suspension??? I do more ontrail than off trail. Any opinion welcome or other ideas. Summer project. :dunno:

There are many options...If you are on trail alot more then off the ripsaw is a good choice. I love my 136" ripsaw on the trail. I was running the stock .92 before w/ 160 studs. The only time I miss my old track is when the trail is VERY icy. Off trail is a different story...well much better then my old track it doesn't compore to the 1.25 six pitch my buddy runs on his piped SXR. But I get the holeshot all the time on the trail. I have heard the 1" six-pitch picked is a real goos set-up but have no experience with it. If I was to set up a trail only sled I would try the 1" six-pitch studded. However I do lots of off trail so I need at least 1.25 and I am thinking of swapping my ripsaw out for a six-pitch or a 1.5". If you go with 8T drivers you can gear up a tooth or 2 to regain a bit of top speed. I have 9T and geared on down on the top and love the results but lost some top end, great off trail and holeshot. Hope this helps a little. All that said I will say again, I love my ripsaw on the set-up trail.

camo, 9830 or 9837, 6pitch predator, with or without clips, studded with 168 outside pattern or 144 inside,, 1.175 woodys, best of all worlds and very good speed

So if you weren't to put in any kind of studs, wouldn't a 9818 Predator 1.25 and a 6-pitch track work well. What about a 9854 Predator 1.25 Staggerd "Studlike" track?

I put a 1.25 Ripsaw (no Studs) on my Viper two years ago. Had the stock track with 144 studs in it. Geared down one tooth for holeshot. I ride mostly groomed trails. Really like the set up, but there have been a couple of times that I have missed running studs. I think if I had to do it again I would've put in a Hacksaw (1.0") and run studs.

I went with the 1" hacksaw and 96 studs up the middle . It has been the best of both worlds for me and now I'm going to do the same to my 03 viper ...

where in NH do you ride? I am almost ALWAYS up north (family has a house in Pittsburg) and I LOVE my ripsaw. since I ride up there I went studless, not really a huge need for them up there. and certainly not worth the trouble for the few times that they would have been nice. maybe an ice ripper??? let me know where you ride!!

When we have snow I hit the Powder Mill area along with lake Winni. I also try to go arround Epping area. Like I said when we have snow. I think I am going to keep to the one inch with studs. I do like the looks of the Hacksaw. I dont think I want to go without studs. Ice ripper?? What do you do when those studs are worn out?? Idea is there but for the lake runs will it out perform regular studs? I dont know anyone that has used that track. As far as up north Errol.

you gotta head to pittsburg, just to see what it is like :) you know the park that you probably drive through to get from the Alton circle into new durham?? thats my family business :) stop in and say hi if you are riding through! Eric

We stay at camp in Errol but ride all over up there. Friend has a camp trailside in Dixville. Are you talking the Gas/food stor at the circle? We usually fuel up there.

yup, if you head towards rochester from there you go through the family park. mostly seasonal so I get to ride a lot in the winter (when there is snow!!! lol!)
