I hope someone can help me out with this problem.. I am trying to purchase a snowmobile from a person on this site. This is not the problem as we have already agreed to terms, the problem is trying to import it into Canada.. I have called both U.S. and Can. Customs and it is a fairly easy prceedure with the proper documents which we seem to have. The problem is with the V.I.N. number. The registrar of imported vehicles tells me that there computer will not accept a number that is not 17 digits long and the v.i.n. number for this sled is only 9 digits.. When he told me this I checked the numbers on my own 2 sleds and my 04 viper has a 17 digit number but my 97 vmax has a 9 digit number.. The sled I want to purchase is a 99 vmax. They tell me I can not import this sled unless it has a 17 digit number.. Has anyone else run into this problem or Know of any solutions (legal of course).. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks

VIN's?????????????????????????
if that is the case, lucky my deal feel thru with the purchase of a 98 SRX from the States. It didn't have a 17 digit VIN #.The 2002 SRX I have now, which has that 17 digit VIN # was bought from another guy here locally who himself imported it from the states.Boy this is a real problem for you if it is true. Can't figure why this is like that.Good luck man.

yeah I checked my sleds. My 2002 SRX has 17 didgits and my 2001 SXR has 9.So that would tell me maybe the difference between an American and Canadian sled...I don't know.Is your Viper speedo in mph and the Vmax in km's/h readings.I am just fishing here.My 3 cents worth.

There is a reason for everything on this planet. To many rules as far as I am concerned. Can't see why a 9 digit VIN would be a threat to this country.LOL
