Hey guys, IM new to the group. Couple of questions. I just recently purchased a 02 viper from one of my older family friends. Hes babied the thing his whole life.
Anyways, i ride with alot of cats (f7's) and i want to to my best to keep up with em if not try and pull a win on one in a dead shot. Ive got a bender can in it, tempa flow, 136" conversion kit with a 1.25" ripsaw, and a thunder shift clutch kit. Im not sure what the clutch kit is geared with and weights and such but he says its geared down 2 notches. He doesnt like top end so much he says (previous owner) hence why its geared so low. I took it out one time last month before the snow was gone here and raced my buddies 04 mxz rev 600 ho sdi. His rev has a new motor with 400 miles on it, a jt silencer, minor clutch work, and vforce reeds. I was pretty sure i was going to get beat outta the hole and all the way actually, but when we lined up i got the hole shot every time and ended up pulling away from him by about 4 sled lengths at a 100 yards dash. So now i wanna keep up with the f7's and i know thats a huge leap but lets be honest, we ride yami's, and nothing beats a yamaha. So i was wondering when i go down to hay days this fall if i buy tripple pipes and vforce reeds if i have a chance at keeping up with em'. I know it depends on clutching and jetting when you get the pipes, so i was wondering 3 things. First do i have a chance with the f7's?, What is my best brand of pipes?, and are the reeds a good buy with piping out the viper?. Thank you much for your help and responses. P.S -When i buy the pipes what would you guys suggest for clutching, or should i take out the thunder shift and keep the stock clutch? Thank you-ViperINABlueDress

Search your questions about Pipes and Reeds. Both these topics have been beaten to death and theres LOTS of threads concerning both topics you asked about. If/or when you go with pipes youll have to start from stratch with clutching and jetting cause of th 20-30hp increase. If you or someone you know dont have alot of hands on experience with these type of machines I would steer clear of pipes. Its not a bolt on and go deal, its gunna take TIME to tuned your clutchs and jetting. If you dont take the time, its gunna cost you more TIME and more $$$$ it get it back to running condition. But like I said do a search on Pipes for a Viper and youll find lots of info your looking for.

Call Jeff Simon @ CPR he will set you up right. You should put a 780 big bore in it w/his pipes.

I have a Aaen piped Viper and I run with my buddies F7 all day long. Is back and forth on who wins.....most who pulls the trigger first.
