Hey guys I was just wondering if the pins that are holding the weights are supposed to be able to slide side to side in the primary clutch?

ok thanks guys I was just wondering because I was looking at a RX1 primary and it didn't have any play in them. I wonder why?

I was wondering this too...on my sx the weight arms have set screws to tighten on the pivit pin and the roller pin there were none?? my clutch at idle kinda rattles ( shucking of the little bolts? ) any idea on this cause its the only thing i could see that would cause the rattle??

^^^ so do i, with comet clutch dry graphite spray.

for some reason only the weights have set screws to lock the pins
the roller pins don't...but there is previsions in the casting that show's
there can be set screw's installed(drill/tap)...

THE PINS SHOULD SLIDE VERY EASY IN AND OUT OF WEIGHTS. YOU THAN SHOULD BEABLE TO SLIDE THEM SIDE TO SIDE. THAN YOU SHOULD SLIGHTLY TIGHT,EN SMALL SET SCREWS THAT WILL HOLD EVERYTHING IN PLACE. SO I WOULD HAVE EVERYTHING FREE, THAN SET SMALL SCREWS. THIS WILL MAKE TAKING THESE OUT VERY SIMPLE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

YEP DMAN, JUST A FINE COAT OF THAT STUFF, KEEPS EVERYTHING FREE AND MOVEING ESPECIALLY WERE WEIGHT ROLLS ON THEM. NOW THESE SET SCREW HOLD THAT PIN, I DON,T BELIEVE THOSE SET SCREWS ARE ON ALL YAMAHA PRIMARY CLUTCHES. WEIRD MY 96 VMAX 800 HAS THEM, MY 95 DOSE NOT. ! 3:16 (yammie tony)

So thats what that noise is, I knew it... My 02' 700MM rattles at idle too, always has. None my other sleds do this. My buddys 00' 700MM does not. I have taken mine to the dealer for this and the head mechanic had no idea  what the noise was. He also didn't seem to concerned about it.
I will be pulling the clutch this off season. I definately would like to eliminate this if I can, It has always anoid me. Thoughts appreciated, Soc

Hey guys I just wanted to add that all you bolts for the pins and weight, The nut should be on the counterclockwise side when reinstalling the nut and bolt for these. The reason for this is Balancing of the clutch.
