Hi!
My friend was really happy when I got a primary clutch from US for him, right in time for the easter riding. He has been doing some wrenching at his workshop to make everything ready, so when the clutch arrived we just had that left. He decided to clean the sled with a high-pressure washer. He was really carefully and didn't aim for the airbox or the electrical system with the high-pressure beam when cleaning.
I went by his workshop when he was washing the sled, I laughed a little when i sow his method to get all the dirt out of the engine compartment.
Finally the clutch arrived and I went with him to the workshop. We mounted everything, and was really happy about it.
Fired her up, sound great.
I noticed really quickly that the rpm-gauge viewed around 5500 RPM, altho the engine just were idleing. (Spelling?) I could hear that the RPM's were normal. So I figured the rpm-gauge viewed wrong numbers. When pushing the trottle, the rpm gauge turned crazy. The pin rotated past 10k rpm and nearly hit the gas tank gauge. I guess the real rpm's were somewhere around 5000. I took a closer look and discovered some dew inside the gauges.
She is idleing (spelling?) normal. Sound well up to 1/2 trottle, but after that she just "gargle" if you know what I mean.
Changed the plugs, but no difference.
Could it be the hot water in the high-pressure washer? I think the temp. where over 80 C*.
Do you think some of the water has made it's way to a place it's not supposed to be? (carbs, crankcase, cdi, ++).
Feel free to help solving this problem. We appreciate every suggestion you might have. Maybe we still can be riding a little this easter
Thanks.
- Simon.

Hey Simon. Glad you're happy with the clutch. There is definetly water in the sled somewhere. I won't be much help as I know nothing about electrical but I hope you get it figured out soon. Somebody here is bound to help you out. I would start by drying out all the electrical stuff (guages, connections, etc) and that will help narrow down the problem and hopefully lead to a faster solution.
Good luck!

Hi Change_up!
Thanks for the clutch. It looks great!
And people, I can't do anything but to recommend change_up if you're planning on making a deal with him. Great seller!
Back to the problem.
Well, we got the problem solved. It was a burnt stator. Looks like the easter riding has to wait until next easter after all
Before we fount this out, we cleaned the gas tank, carbs, gauges, etc. with no luck. We fired up the sled and it was just like before, same problem. Bogging after 1/2 trottle. But suddenly the headbeam got the same light-power(Don't know what word to use here) as a candle and the sled almost didn't move forward.
Then we knew it was the stator. Took it apart and bingo!

Hehe, that's what I thought too!
I guess he ain't doing it again after his experience with the burnt stator
