I have a 98 msrx 700 sled modified clutch kit, can, cold air kit, gutted airbox....i noticed it has the tin covers on the seconday...yamaha specs the msrx's to have it while the standard srx's don't is there any reason or performance gain/ loss by taking these off....will my clutches run cooler or will i loose top end speed....the sled is geared low and tops out about 100 mph so im not worried about speed...thanks

Yea on a mountain sled i would pull them off. That deep heavy snow is hard to pull through and puts a lot of heat in the clutches. Running without the sheave covers helps keep them cooler.

In theory you'll be somewhat faster with them on as there is less air resistance. The purpose of them is to cover the ribs on the clutch thus eliminating the fan effect.
