Hey Everyone. The Brake Pads Are Worn Out On My 2002 Srx And I Want To Make A Set Because There Is Still Some Good Riding Here In Newfoundland Yet And They Are Not Avaialable, But On Order, And If I Make A Set I Can Save Myself $60.00. What I Need To Know Is What The Thickness Is Of The Friction Material On A New Brake Pad Or Very Close To New...if Someone Could Measure Them With A Micrometor That Would Be Great. Has Anyone Ever Made A Set Before? Is There Anyone Who Wouldn't Reccomend This? If So Why Not? I Cant See It Being A Problem... Thanks Boys.

i have them made. i made them from bonded ceramic brake pads. they are perfectly uniform to new oem ones. i did an awesome job on them. but the backing plates on the ones i made are a little thicker, i just need to know what the total thickness is so i can cut the pad material down, could you measure the pads you have for me...?
thanks
thanks

i have the pads put on, great fit but i cant get the lever to stiffen up, seems spongy. i dont know why, its not leaking or anything all i done was push back both pistons and then placed the pads in place and pumped the lever. but it will not go hard??? any ideas?

You likely have air in your system. I would bleed the brake system and try it then.

if you didnt touch the brake lines .just pump the lever some more.if you took a line off or loosened a bleeder you have air in it.

all i did was pushed both pistons all the way back. someone told me i may have fluid lock. and the only way to cure this is i will have to remove the resevoir cap to let it out then all should be fine, do you agree. thats all i figure it can be. there are no leaks and i didnt do anything to cause it other than that. hey by th eway, anyone want a set of pads made??? now that mine are installed, you would never say that they were home made.
