So it is time to drop some new bogie bearings in the Phazer 2 this year, and I was looking at them from the Yamaha dealer and They are $15 A PEICE! thats over a hundred bucks just for bearings!

So it got me thinking. Hey, why are we not using Stainless bearings in them? Has anyone looked in to finding any Stainless ones? if so Post them up!

check out port yamaha the bearings are probaly cheaper with shipping to your house.

I picked some up off e-bay and they have been fine for 2 seasons so far. $10.00 for 10 of them! Auto parts stores also have them for about 4 bucks each. I use them on my 95 v-max.

just check the part number on the side of the bearing should be like a rs6002 or a rs6205 the rs6205 is the bigger ones. like a 52 mm OD and 25mm ID u can find them just about anware for alot cheeper like 3 bucks a pop. and alot of the time a dealer will get them for that and still sell for the OEM price. so if the bearing doesnt come in a box or bag with the OEM tag i wouldnt take it.lol

Any local bearing store will have them on the shelf at a fraction of the cost. Even if you can't read the number, take the old one along and they'll match it up.

I've gotten bearings from VXB before but the shipping has gone up quite a bit. I do agree bearings are bearings. Source them where ever you feel comfortable.

anyone know where to get the drive axle bearing(speedo side) that one is expensive. Thanks Pat

The speedo bearing is the only one that you can't get at Napa. It is a flat instead of a dome and the inside measurement is metric. I like to put the better bearings in the drive line instead of the $3.00 china bearings.

As long as you have the bearing number, try a bearing store. Yes they too have different brands, (including the cheap chinese) but any SKF, NTN bearings are good quality. Yamaha simply buys these from somewhere and puts them in a nice package.
There is a difference in quality when it comes to brgs. I won't put the cheap brg on the drive axle either. But buying it from the dealer does not make it better quality. It is no different than my Polaris, which has a special brg on the axle. The dealer wanted $60 (and no-stock) where Commercial brg charged me $10.
This isn't a brg store but a Canadian aftermarket place. http://www.royaldistributing.com/shoppingcart/middleredirect.aspx?page=Indexes/index_w_04_A.html
Look under bearings on page 181, the bearing you want is $19.95. It even gives you the real NTN number.

Just remember that Yamaha doesn't make bearings. They simply specify a specific bearing for each location. They tend to use KOYO and NTN for most bearings and seals. Just replace with a bearing that meets the same spec, or take the bearing to your local bearing shop if you don't know much about bearings. Please note that there is more to getting the right bearing than simply the size. Those letters mean a lot of different things.

You could of course waste an incredible amount of time like I did learning all about what those letters and numbers actually mean.
