Has anyone powder coat the rear and center spring on their sled (viper). What is the prep for the spring and how thick? Thanks

A buddie of mine owns a powder coating shop, here in Grand Rapids, " Magnum Powder Coating". They do all the work, prepping...etc. They do a great job. Just clean the parts real good.

I was planning on trying it on front springs. My plan was just to sandblast and powder coat like normal. What where you thinking would need extra prep?

I think I'm just going to coat them like normal!

BTW where do you buy your powder? I usually use this place: http://www.columbiacoatings.com/ maybe I'll shoot them a note before I do it. But I'm pretty sure I read before that powder coating was better then painting becuase it can flex. I'm worried about coverage down where the coils are basically coil bound.

What kinda $$ does he charge??

Well I graduated w/ him, so I get the "family" discount, So I can't really say...on the prices. But he does a great job.

Located in Windsor ON but they have a US mailing address in Detroit for shipping reasons. Probably $40 for the first item and $10 (Canadian funds)for each additional item of the same color in the same order. It would be more for two color/clear. You'll have to contact him for more accurate pricing but it seems to me that's what he said the last time I asked. Talk to Rob, tell him Ian pointed you in his direction. He's a sledder as too, only he wears yellow. They do have a Vmax 600 in the garage as well. :) You can check out the work in my sled "working log" "History of the Vmax Rage 600" in my sig. Make sure you call the other guy, I have know idea how my guys pricing compares.
