I've been contemplating changing the rear skid in my SRX to one of the following SC10 2-3,Edge or Cat and the more I look at them I see that they are all basically the same design and layout except for the coupling.I know that some seem to ride better than others but is that just in the shocks or is there enough of a geometry difference that would make one brand better than another?I'm leaning toward the Doo skid but would also consider an Edge it just sort of boils down to the price and shape of their in.

What kinda of riding do you do and how do you ride? Each of these skids have strong points and not so strong points.

yes Ding you are right.I know that the SC10III is smooth compared to my suspension.Don't feel the bumpy mogols as mine does.I may just go to a SXR suspension on my SRX.It will bolt right in and has a little more travel On my 2001SXR600 that suspension works for me,and I ditch bang hard with it,nothing is breaking on it with almost 10,000 km's already. On my SRX don't plan on doing heavy or high jumps anyways. The SRX is for basically for wot on straight runs and not into the deep stuff.

I just picked up an edge skid and will be putting that in my srx here soon.Sure hope it works as well for me as it did for some of the guys that have done it.

The SC-10 III skid is the best of the 3 you mentioned for groomed trails up through stutter bumps. The Edge skid is better for rougher stuff, and it depends on which Cat skid you are talking about.

The SC10 3 is pretty much what I've been leaning towards for a skid as I can use my cousins Mach 1 to measure from to get the hole locations. As far as using a cat skid I'm not sure which ones people use I've only seen the odd post where someone mounted one into their chassis,I assume it would be one of the latest ZR skids.

The SC-10 III mount locations are different than the SC-10 and SC-10 II (which are the same). I am unaware of any Mach 1's with the SC-10 III stock, so if it has one in it make sure it is correctly installed. The SC-10 III will actually bolt up in the SC-10 II mount locations, but won't work properly.

On www.dootalk.com you can find the correct measurements for both skid types. If you have trouble, I have them somewhere here.

i have a set of ohlins (piggyback, 2 speed compresion and rebound) and maybe my transfer rods that would fit in ur sled and realy improve the suspention. PM me if ur intereted.

Edge skid all the way, great weight transfer, good comfort and decent resistance to bottoming.I have an m-10 in my sled and out of all that I've rode the edge is closest to an m-10 in comfort. It just depends where your priorities are in all of this.

I didn't realize that the SC10 3 had a different mounting location so I'll have to make sure I get the hole locations from a sled with that skid,Thanks for the tip.

one you havent mentioned is the mono. you can get one of those and be smoother than all others mentioned :) but I am partial ;) just did a write-up for the tech section as well. pretty easy install... :)

I did actually consider the Mono but haven't found any in my area in the price range I can get one of the others and I have read your writeup on the install so I will keep it in mind if one comes along.

:) worth the $$ to me lol! i dont mind the setup of the sc-10 III in my father in laws mxz, but the shocks are already completely blown out and useless at 2500 miles or so :(
