How do you remove the water pump rotor and then the shaft from the lower crank case?

This is for an SRX.
1.Remove the water pump impeller
2.Pry off the mechanical seal (small cup like metal seal)
3.There's a snap ring down next to the bearing to come out,it's along way in there so get some long nosed snap ring pliers.
4.Pull the shaft out.You may have to GENTLY tap it out from the oil pump side if it wont pull easily.

The impeller seems to be press fit on to the shaft, how do I get a hold of the impeller to pull it?

Hmmm.Dont know what to tell you there mine just pulled right off.It is just a spline shaft so it shouldn't be pressed on,it may be stuck a bit so just pry VERY lightly if you can,it is only aluminum after all.Try a light pry on opposite sides of the impeller to see if it will come off.

That's what I do but don't marr up the sides of the case and do it evenly.
