Well i finally got my 04 viper s ready to run asphalt. last night was the first night running it, and i was a little disapointed. The fastest run was 11.12 @111 mph. I have aaen pipes, vforce reeds, some clutching. My problems...

Pulled to the right off the line- adjusted limiter straps... didnt change much
Runs 8900-9000(which is good), but it doesnt seem to pick up much after about 1/2-3/4 track. I thought it was running out of gear, but the rpm's never went past 9000.

Any help would be great. i was hoping this thing would run mid 10's

I would say that sled @best wpold do 10.80's with aaen pipes. Are you running stock gearing? With stock gearing you will be out of gear at 117mph@9000rpms.
What's your 60ft times?
Are you running Da Grove or WIR?
Is your sled strapped down?

yea at da groove. i run a altered funny car there too. My 60ft was 1.551 on average. But it was pulling tot he right pretty bad. It is stock gearing. It seemed like it was running out of gear, but the rpms never would start climbing like it was. so i dont know. I did what Mr. Viper said about putting the spacers in the tranfer rods. It pulled it down but it seems like that lifted the back of the track up, cause it was lifting the skis pretty good with the limiter staps cranked up.

drill new holers in your limiter straps and take out the rubber stoppers.Suck the w arm up as far as you can get it.

GET THAT 60 FT NUMBER DOWN AND YOUR ET WILL INPROVE. THAT PULLING TO THE RIGHT IS BIG PROBLEM FOR STARTERS. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT WHAT HELIX YOU RUNNING. ALSO WHAT JETTING ? !! 3:16 (yammie tony)

i weigh 170lbs. I am running the vent tubes outside the air box running a 145 main, and a 45 pilot. I think i need to go to a 47.5 pilot, and maybe a hair leaner on the main. Right now i have a maxximum perf. helix in it, and it isnt stampped. That was going to be my next question for everyone. I am using the same clutch setup i was using when i was trail riding. What configuration would you guys recomend for the clutches in a 1/4 mile? Thanks so much for everyones help!

LISTEN TO THESE GUYS ON SUSPENSION SET-UP. YOUR 60 FT MAKES YA OR BREAKS YA ON TAR. ALSO INCRESEING # RICH,IN,s YA ON PILOT. DON,T KNOW ABOUT DOING THAT IN SUMMER BUT I MIGHT CONSIDER LEANER MAINS. I ONLY WOULD CONSIDER 47.5 PILOTS IF YA DROP MAINS. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I am using stock weights and rollers from the S package. Red secondary spring, and a orange primary. The primary spring and helix and from maxximum perf. So i dont really know what they are. It worked good on the trails so i didnt mess with it. I also have a blue hauck spring, and a 51-42 helix laying around if those would be any better. I think for asphalt i am going to have to go with a completely different setup. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If your using stock weights yet you have a lot to gain.As far as the 51-42 I can't tell you if it would be any better because I don't know the helix you have in there now.Do you have any other clutch weights?Actually asphalt to snow set ups are almost spot on they are so close.I have messed with the clutching a little bit on vipers,I never owned one so I don't have a lot of time on them.Mrviper 700 has a heel clicker set up that rocks on the viper on a stock viper just the clutching gains 10mph on top they work with piped vipers.Pm MrViper he glady helps any one out that listens to him.Pro
