Hi guys!

I`m in the process of deciding wether to repaint or not, but I can`t decide what color.

I must admit that I like the blue mountain viper better then the red, but the red one also looks neat.

Thing is when I got my sled the hood was full of scratches everywhere, nothing really BAD but like, if I had owned that sled from it would probably still look mint. I think I`m able to keep a hood nice, if you know what I mean.

I`m wondering if I should go with a two color scheme on the hood, get two different base paints, paint the first one and then mask off one or more areaes, then paint the second color and then put lots of clear on everything.
If I get some fineline tape I could basically be a little "artistic" and make a somewhat custom paint job.

But what colors should I go with?.

I`m thinking of a combination of black/white on the hood, then maybe white radius rods/trailingarms and then get red mountain skis (newer type).
(red skis so that they will match the red area of the seat.. ).

Any ideas?.

I kind of like to follow my own ideas but when I`m in a doubt it can be good to hear some ideas:).

Joakim.

I just made a little "sketch" in a photo programme, just to to get a picture of how it could look:

You don`t have to be a rocket scientist to see that the white areas are uneven, but when I mark them up before the paint I will make sure they are.

15 is just a random number, well actually its the number I had on my first dirtbike, hehe.

Hmm

i like what i had done with mine.. The Y-Insert thing by the windy white and the 2 snow ducts Painted white with White grils and a black windy. And what you have done. she would look sooo b itchen!!! thats what i would do. anyone else?

Oh yeah, you gota have White c&a's With the radious rods/ Trailing arms Black with some White and black Powermadd Handguards, She will be SO SEXY!!! i love those colors on the vipers! good luck with the decision!

Ohyeah, you can only have her looking good If she's backed up with some serious hp under that hood. No point having a good looking machine with nothing to stand behind it, hahahah!!! good luck on your decision!

your seat is already red an black.I would paint the hood white and get red graphics like the 08 yamaha 40th annivery models. That would look seet.I might do that with my srx.

Personally, I've always been impressed with the grey/black graphics on the red viper. Have concidered re-painting mine, but hate to give up the graphics.
How would the factory graphics look on black?

Hi guys !

Thanks alot for the replies:

auji700triple: Thanks for the pics & opinions:). All of the ideas will look cool I think.. don`t know about the c&a ski`s, arent they muce mroe $ then the Yamaha mountain ski?. Are they good?.

Right now I`m painting a motorcycle for a guy and gees what a mess. The filler was to thick for my 1.8 nozzle, I was told it wouldn`t be too thick so I didn`t anything to thin it out with. So I will have to do some sanding before I can start painting. It kind of got me thinking.. my paint "booth" is in lousy condition, whole thing is rotten. I`ll shoot some pics. So I will have to think thorougly through wether to repaint or ot, before I start sanding.
Also I`m saving money for a motorcycle so I don`t want to spend too much$. I don`t think redoing the seat will be an option, everything is so expensive in Norway.

I don`t have any experience with fine line tape & masking so it would be really interesting to try to do something "custom" .

Ejcamaro, it would be cool with rambo on the sled, if I only knew someone who could airbrush him onto my hood:).

Tomorrow I will be sanding down the filler and then if I have enough time I will paint it, if the spraying goes OK without too much hazzle and I feel comfortable with it then I will probably decide to repaint my sled too.

We`ll see I`ll keep you posted:).

Hi guys!

Today I painted the motorcycle I talked about my previous thread. Started sanding the filler 09.00, finished the sanding 15.00 . Then I ate some Saturday-porridge and headed for the "paint boot" .

The paint was "solid black" , no clear. First I put on a very thin dust coat, then a normal 2nd layer and finally a (as thick as I dared) 3rd layer.
First I was REALLY happy, the paint "floated" really nice and became very glossy. Then I discovered a "run" on the side of the tank.. it was about 10cm long but very "flat". I hope that I will be able to maybe wetsand it with 1500/2000 and then polish it to get the gloss back?.

Before I put the filler on, yesterday

I looked somewhat high.

From today..

Anyway, today I realized that I can`t start another painting project unless I make/get a new place to paint. The boot I`m using now is in the same house as my cousins wood-workshop and there`s dust everywhere.

So I`m kind of in doubt what to know.. we`ll see.

Sorry for the OT pictures.

Hmm

Joakim, if you're worried about saw dust, spray the place down with a hose before you start, the water keeps the dust under control. Just spray it down, then bring in the pieces you're wanting to paint and go for it.

that's an old old trick, but it's surprisingly effective.

Yup, WE have alot of dirt roads here by Iocc/Highway to Goose, and they have water trucks usually going over the roads on a hot/dry day to keep the Dust under control. Same kinda idea!

Hence Iocc/Wabush Mines. Lots of dust on Hot N Dry Days, Water keeps the sand from rising. Give that a try should keep the saw dust down! good luck

Hi guys!

Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate the tips:).

But, I allready did that.. :).
I use this floor-cleaner-water-spray can that my mother has, I fill it with water and spray around in the room, large amounts.

My cousin is talking about building a new painting room, but I bet it will never happen.

But, I could build a temporary painting room outside his shop so that I could have used his compressor. (he has LARGE one).

Another thing I could do is to remove decals from the hood, fix any bad spots, sand it down and spray filler on it and then sand it, and then have a professional shop paint it.

But, I do like to do everything myself.. so I`m not sure. Also, I wount be able to do a custom paint job if I let someone else do it, well I could make all the custom stuff my self and then sand it with some nice grit and then have a pro spray clear on it.

Hmm well see what happens:).
