Seat Damage

One of my seats has a few tears in it. They are right-angle tears, less than
1 1/2 inches long. What the best way to fix this besides buying an expensive new seat?

I have had pretty good luck with a small piece of duct tape, then cover it
over with liquid electrical tape. If you mask everything nice it looks OK to.
 
I would take it to somebody that is good at upholstery. I had mine done for $60 CDN including material and it looked very nice. What he actually did was section a whole strip of the torn peice out and then replaced it with a good black (instead of blue) and it gave the seat a little more contrast and looks nice. Here's a picture of what I mean. The black on the bottom is where it was done. Oh yea he did this on both sides to keep the symmetrical part in check.

This side of the seat had one 2" tear in it (right angle like yours) and a couple small chunks and rips.

duck tape inside and push sides together, we do this to the bus seats when the kids rip them. you can even put glue on the tape for a stronger seal.
 
i have used a product called VLP vinyl and leather repair epoxy from ace hardware...worked really well and was very flexible after it was cured. it was only 3-5 buks and was well worth it for small little tears.
 
I had a tear on my seat cover but was not at a seam. I used a needle bent in a "U" and a piece of thick wax coated threads. I cross stiched it and it has held together very well through the winter months. I guess its good enough for who its for.
