Hey I was wondering what the best way is to wash the sled. Car wash, by hand or what? Do you have to worry about getting water and stuff in the engine bay? Cause my entire sled is just plain trashed and dirty from my last ride about a month ago. Cleaned up a little but it needs a good wash, under the hood too. How does everyone go about it?

I alway hand wash. It is a good time to check everything over. then I hand wax all the smooth plastic pats, the textured plastic I use armorall on. DO NOT armorall the seat!! for under the hood you could use an engine degreaser and use the hose to rise with (no nozzle) then leave the hood open so it dries out good. go over your clutches with a white scotch brite pad to get the glaze off and store with the belt removed. This is just what I do, I'm sure everybody has their own way of washing.

Just get the garden hose out Max and have at it with a wash bucket and
soap like you wash your car, you won't hurt nothing, spray a little degreaser on the motor and rinse that off again won't hurt nothing, when dry wax it just like your car also, then i like to coat the motor and engine bay with a silicone spray to prevent corrosion and keep rubber soft and shinny.

add stabil, fogg it and your done till winter..

I always armor-all my seat. Keeps it from drying out and cracking and i like to keep it a little slick. Plus it wears off where your but hits real quick anyway.

mean green degreaser from the dollar store works really well for under the hood, and everywhere else for that matter, spray it on, wait long enough to drink a quick beer, then hose everything off REALLY well. some corrosion protection is always a plus, i like to use bombardier lube (sea doo lube) found at most dealers, but wd40, corosion x or other similar products work well too. spray everything under the hood, and then spray everything again just to make sure (dont be afraid of using 1/2 to a full can)....i like to spray the suspension front and rear as well, the rails, h arm, shocks and every other thing that looks like it could rust. this will protect your machine from moisture accumulated during the summer. for all of the accesories, seat, dash, hood, etc i use Motul Shine and Go.....its a silicone based polish that i spray on and leave it on, helps prevent dirt and grease/grime from sitcking. NU FINISH car polish will help remove any scratches on the hood or windshield.

I never armorall my seat and I don't really know if it makes the seat last longer either, my seat on my 95 XLT is original (9000 miles) and open trailered, and has never had armorall on it. not a split or crack to be found, but if you like to slip and slide then do your seat, it is your sled. I have been told by some car guys not to use silcone on the hoses under the hood, you should used belt dressing, they say that the silicone will actually dry the rubber out faster. Again on my xlt still has the original hoses on and are still in excellent shape. But like I said before everybody has their own way of doing things and none are really wrong as long as they work for you.

Lots of responses thanks guys! I always use wd-40 over the whole sled. usually two whole can worth. I usually hand wash it but this year the sled looks like it ran through an atv track so I was thinking off the car wash but I wanted opinions! I will stick to hand washing! I was a little nervous of using engine degreaser, because I have to rinse out the engine bay with a hose, which makes me nervous.. but popular opinion seems to be it is fine so as soon as I get sometime this weekend the whole sled is gettin shiny, lol!

Hey what is the best product to get scratches out of the windshield??

Thanks again guys!

I put the hose right to her no problems lol, you do want to stay away from the air box i put a bag over it so no water get's in.

then after your done Max fire it up and let her run for a wile to burn off
all the water and help dry it out..

I spray it down with degreaser and power wash it. I use the power washer religously. It blasts the smag off really well. When your done tip the sled on its side and let all the water drain out of the bellypan.
