Not familar with these vintage sleds. What set up would you use with a 1980 SRX to give it a 5000 rpm engament. 9000 rpm is the peak rpm's to shoot for correct. It has the stock clutch and stock secondary. Sled is completely stock. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

ITS REALLY A LONGSHOT HERE TUNEING THAT OEM CLUTCH, MY BEST ADVISE TO YOU IS A COMET 102 c. BEST CLUTCH FOR THIS SLED. I THAN CAN TELL YA EXACTLY WHAT TO USE. AND YES 9000 WITH STOCK PIPES AND STOCK MOTOR. !! 3:16 (yammie tony)

Upon closer inspection this 1980 is equipped with a 102C comet clutch. That should help alot right.

Actually the clutch is a 108c. What is the difference between the 108c and 102c. Thanks

What does the overdrive on the 108 do that the 102 doesn't. I guess what I am asking is how does the overdrive work. Thursday I just picked up a 1979 SRX set up for drag racing. It has a Polaris clutch set up on it with engagement coming in around 6000 rpm. Is the Polaris clutch good for drag racing. Thanks for the help.

I HAVE ONLY USED COMET 102 c ON MY SRX. THE 108c IS USED IN A OVERDRIVE APP. ITS LETS YA RUN LOWER GEARING AND STILL HAVE GOOD TOP END. ALSO THAN WIDER WIDTH BELTS ARE USED. WHAT SCARES ME HERE IS THE HUGE MASS OF THE 108c ON THAT SHORT SRX PTO SHAFT. I HAVE SEEN ONE OF THESE BREAK A SRX CRANK. SURPRIZEING THEY EVEN FITS WITHOUT HITTING TIE ROD. SOMEBODY MIGHT HAVE MADE SOME CHANGES TO GET THAT ON. 3:16 (yammie tony)

All 3 of my 80 SRX's have the 108C clutch. The comet catalog says you have to run the 108c to clear the oil pump. I bought the 3 sleds this way, so I do not know if a 102C will work?....Jeff Wurl

I will pull the clutch to see what set up it has now and get back to you. One more question what is the ratio with the premix fuel on a 79 SRX.
