alright, after some hunting, I ended up with this '83 parts sled, and this '84 running sled. Picked them up lastnight, and have not even washed them yet. Tradded my running '74? SW433 for these! now if time allows, the '84 will be on the ice this winter!!!

'84 is really nice. track is worn heavy, 2 bad idlerwheels. and thats about all thats really going to need to be addressed. Fired her up and idled nice. guy said he leak tested and the pto side and it would not hold. As I need to pull the motor anyway, there was no sence running it too much

Good deal, good luck!!
Cool man congratulations. The V-Max 4 540`s are rare in Norway, my first sled was a 540 with a Rotax 583 engine and a cat skid. That engine mostly turned by muscle power, or atleast it felt like that back in the day.
Don`t know how many recoil-ropes I pulled off. One time when I was out of recoil-rope I had to cut a piece of rope from our flag-rod in the garden. Well it got to short to raise the flag oops, sorry about that dad.
Well anyway nice to see that someone take care of the good old sleds.

I remember my "Darth Vader" VMAX. FAST and fun, it would beat newer sleds at the time on the lake. Trail riding it was a challenge, it would be the first machine in the group out of gas.
Congrats, and please keep the pics coming, I almost forgot what it looked like!!!

Mine had a 610cc big bore kit by High Altitude Engineering, sold the sled, miss the3 parts... I wouldn't mind relocating that either.

these Vmax's are for a new class we are trying this year. Really looking to get more younger guys started in racing. The Pre '83 IFS and leaf spring stuff is getting so fricking expensive and the numbers of entries are falling. Thus we are trying a 83-92 IFS TRAIL sled only class. No limited build stuff allowed. <500cc fan cooled and <600 liguid cooled. All will be in stock trim, with stock carbs and exhaust. This is NOT a BUILDERS class.... trying to keep it a low budget beginners class.
Really excited about it. we already have 3 phazer II's being built for the fan class

Not to steal this thread but I personally had my *ss handed to me by the 3 cylinder v-max that duhr8m was talking about. I was on a bender phazer and had the max out of the hole then all I saw was taillights. Later years knew a guy down hear in Illinois with a 3 cylinder v-max 600. That was also cool.
