SNAGGED SOME PIPES OFF E BAY FOR 162.50!! YEA, YEA , THIS SUBJECT GETS BEAT TO DEATH. I ALREADY HAVE A REAR COOLER. DO I NEED A DIFFERENT HEAD GASKET?,BASE GASKET? I KNOW HEAD WORK IS ADVISED. MY BIG QUESTION IS THE SRX CDI , WHO USES IT ? THERE IS A LOT TALK ABOUT IT . NEXT IS IS DIRECTED AT MR. VIPER HOW MUCH IS TRAIL PORTING 91 OCTANE SAFE AND HOW MUCH POWER COULD BE HAD. No, you dont HAVE to have a differnt head gasket and base gasket, its just that the cooling features of the stock viper mono head is lacking, not too mention it has staggered compression ratios as well. Alot use a modded head that they open up the center and mag cylinder to be the same lower compression of the PTO cylinder, this will reduce detonation induced by high compression and low octane fuels. The srx cdi box is a change for someone who is wanting to put alot of miles on and reduce all the other varibles in a viper by reducing some of the timing curve found in a viper cdi box, this is fine with a pipe designed to run at lower rpm, but most viper pipes operate at a higher rpm. Above 8700rpm, the viper begins to retard the timing curve and at 9000+ rpm it is alot safer there, thats why the CPR pipes and others were made to run in this rpm range.
