price for viper shocks

i just talked to my local dealer and they said they had a few pairs of viper shocks that were returned years ago(i think there was a year they allowed people to swap)i was wondering what i should offer them for a set?anyone know about the year they recalled them and why?
 
This is what I paid for my Viper take offs a little over a year ago:

The stiff valving worked great for me as I'm 235lbs before gear.
 
I paid $100. this past spring for a pair of rears that will need to be rebuilt and revalved.

offer them $150. If they wont take that give them more. They are just sitting around there anyway, not any good to them just sitting there.
 
I'm now wondering if these will fit the SRX? Seems to me there might be different mounts on the front shocks. I can't remember for sure though. I think the Viper was a clevis style upper mount and the SRX may be a rod end style? Someone prove me right/wrong......
 
You are correct crewchief. The Viper shocks won't work unless you change out the bulkhead section for the shock mounts or do what ReaperSRX did, clamp each end on the Viper shock together and add washers to fill the gap and mount them up to the SRX bulkhead.
 
Another option is to use the brackets that betheviper made up that allow the viper shock to bolt into the srx. That's the route I took. Made the change this spring so I haven't gotten the chance to ride it that way, but it sure bolted together easily enough.
 
Yup BETHEVIPER's brackets look pretty bad a$$. Bolt up a set of sxr/viper shocks to your srx with ease!
 
what now?

i need to know what i need to do to the rear suspension to get the viper shocks to work and betheviper whats the price for the brackets?
 
You will need different control rod spacers. Depending on what year your srx is you may need different limiter straps and the upper halves of the control rods (the part that slides inside the lower control rods) as well. Thats about it. Might want to get those shocks revalved for your weight and riding style. Enjoy the improvement!
