Just got the my shocks back from pioneer, and reinstalling them seems to be way more difficult that taking them out. Probly because they were all shot. Did a search and tried the Tech section no info that I can use. I am starting with the fronts and i almost need to compress them 4 inches to get them to slide in to both brackets. The only thing I can think of is to compress them with a tie down strap but then I cannot get the tie down strap out when they get installed. Anyone have any tricks

thanks ]]Chadg

loosen the spring then tighten them when there in the sled.Take the limiter starps right off also and then once you get the shock in press down on the w arm with your knee and tighten one of the limiter straps up.

Limiters are off spring is loosened. It is the shaft that is givin me hell (revalved). Bruce put on a stiffer spring for the center shock. I had to take a breather and have a beer, I will try again in a minute.LMAO

lmfao but very angry lol.I got the front shocks on. But the center shock's bushings all are bad . They are cracked. Need to order some new ones. lol. So the project will continue when I get the new ones.

When you get those new bushings lube them up with grease and shim them tight to get rid of play in the mountings. You should also shim all the other bushings to remove play and the suspension will operate much more smoothly.

Great point cause I did notice the play big time. What do you suggest shimming them with. I will post some pics of the old bushings.

Chad, Loosen the bolts at the bottom of the transfer rod's. This relaxes the skid and wil allow you to line those pesky bolt's right up. Done this MANY times in the driveway at the cabin. even in the DARK with nothing but a flashlight LOL!!

Dave he called me on the phone he has done that already and still can't get it,lol
He better hit the gym :EXER:
:Moon:

Chadg, BETHEVIPER had a great idea by using tin snips and cutting shims from an old coffee can. That way you can "cut to fit" to make a nice tight fit that should probably take some light tapping to get all together.

Sounds like the gym wouldn't help if he can't get by loosening those bolts. He probably installed the rear shock in the center shock position LOL!!! Maybe he should get his Wheaties eaten and try again HAHAHAHA!!

Mr. Sled I already read that. ANd guys stop making fun of me LMAO. I got it all under control. Where I made my mistake was trying to put the center and rear shock on the fronts. I knew something was wrong when the sled was leaning real hard to the right. I kept lookin at the front view like what the hell is going on. Then I noticed one shock was bigger then the other. Damn.

Thanks yammi I will try that.

Man Dave, Brent, and I did this on 2 sleds outside in -10 degree temps. we didn't have any trobles other than our fingers freezing. It was well worth it to keep my Ohlins, well at least for me it was worth it. LOL Maxdlx
