I'm in the process of replacing the driveline bearings in my viper but I ran into a little problem. The clutch side bearing on the driveshaft will not come off (yes i loosened the set screws ... only after I wondered why the bearing wouldn't move). Just wondering if anybody has any tips/suggestions/tricks. Thanks! :winterrul

Remove retainer ring

Go to the inside of the tunnel with a sharp chisel and a large hammer. Chisel off the heads of the two rivets that hold the bearing retianer ring to the inside of the tunnel. Once removed, everything will come out. When you get it out stick the whole thing in a press and remove the bearing. When done, just rivet the retainer ring back to the inside of the tunnel. This is what I do....saves a lot of aggrivation.

That is one option. Or you can shift the drive axle towards the clutch side after the chaincase is out and put a puller on the bearing and shaft end to get it off.

this is what i have done also, but i dont bother to rivet it back on afterwards because the 4 bolts, washers and nuts hold the two sides together, and i seem to take my driveshaft out 10 times a season for some reason so its just that much easier the next time around.

Thats what I did also and it worked great. It was alot less frustrating than pounding around in there. After that I put it together with a dab of anti-seize on the driveaxle.

Yup, forgot to mention the anti-seize for reassembly. Good point!

I used a small 3 jaw puller to do this. Worked well.

I used the same when I installed my new track on the Viper, cause I ran into the same issue. Cost me like 10 bucks for 3 diff. size jaw pullers at harbor freight.
