I had that same sled a few years back. I believe the stock hp is around 118hp.
I also did the removed the center of the stock head gasket, bender triples, boost bottle, clutching, jetting, coated Wiseco Pistons, reed spacers, reeds and probably a few other things that I can't remember. I could hang with SRX's if not beat a few of them. We thought I was at about 145hp. Only a guess tho.
The last season I drove it, I never even fouled one plug. Ran great. The only thing with my sled, is after I changed the compression, on cold days, trying to pull start that sled felt like my arm was going to rip right out of my shoulder. It was really tough. I had to slowly pull on it a few times then pull hard and she'd fire up.
I'll see if I can some pics of that beast. You'd like it.

Hey Cannon3731 welcome to the best yamaha site on the Net. You will find a ton of information if you do a search on your question relating the head gasket mod. The search tab is located at the top right of this page.

Go to the tech section, and find the post for how to notch the reed stops. It will give you better throttle response than reed spacers. Maxdlx
Yeah stock HP was around 105-110. I believe it was the viper that had 118. Pipes put it at about 130-135 on the dyno.

The engine in stock form is 112 h.p. Doing the head gasket mod will bump it up a couple, and will increase throttle response a bit. You must run premium fuel if you pull two layers out of the head gasket. If you pull one out I would still run premium but its more critical if you pull two. Reed stopper notches (found on the tech page) will give it much better throttle response and will remove most of the low end "burble" these engines are known for. Jet it to 142.5's straight across if you aren't piping it and it will be much snappier on top. If you need clutching I can help you there too, but do your mods first so that you dont have to keep re-clutching it.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the silencer mod where its bored out.Isn't that good for a couple more hp?I have been thinking of doing that along with the other mentioned mods, but am worried about the noise. Is it annoyingly loud or just a different tone?It sounds cool on the tech page , but its hard to tell how loud it reallly is.

Thanks for the info. What are the stock jets? If i do all that you have listed what should i do to the clutchs. Im also thinking of putting a can on it. will this change the jetting.yamaholic22 said:The engine in stock form is 112 h.p. True, the boring out the baffle in the stock exhaust, or the "can mod" is good for a couple more horse on the 6 and 700 non-powervalve triple "red head" engines. It is a little bit louder than stock, but the biggest difference is the change in tone. They sound a lot meaner with the can mod, just a much more pleasing tone. Very glad I did it, and i have done it to a lot of sleds. Wont need a jetting change with the can mod.

Stock jetting is 145 in the pto and 143.8's in the center and mag. If you want to buy just two jets you can throw one of those 143.8's in the pto and just buy two 142's for the center and mag. It is a noticeable improvement in running quality and power on top end. Clutching really depends on what kind of riding you do (lake running is WAY different than tight twisty trails). You want to set it up best for the type of riding you do the most.

Thanks for the response yamaholic, you seem like a very knowlegeable guy, I think I'll do the mods listed and I already have 142.5 mains and turks clutching so I should be good to go.My rpm's are a little low, 8300-8400 so I'm thinking that a little more hp with the 3 mods will bring it up to 8500-8600 rpm's.I have the heavier 4.5 gram rivets in the flyweights and a 51/43 helix for clutching.I'll second that on better running with the leaner jetting and I leaned out the needles 1/2 position, this was good for nearly 14 mpg on hard groomed trails, with the price of gas I was pleased to say the least!
I've run as low as 141.3's w/ a 143.8 without any issues. Yamaholic do you still have that slide rail I was going to buy off you? I completely forgot.
