Whats the difference between the main switch and the tether switch? Which is the one where you put your key into? My manual doesn't specify...

Your key goes into the main switch. A tether switch is usually a after market item that is wired into the harness and connected to you so if you fall off the sled, the engine will shut off.

Tether switches were not used after about the early eighties. Phazers did not have them nor SR-V's I believe. After that, the sleds had a throttle over ride switch.

Mercury Marine had one for race boats that was popular with snowmobile racers. It was a heavy duty assembly. Some tether switches are pretty chintzy. This is not the Mercury toggle switch with the plastic loop that is standard on control boxes or tiller handles. It was a ball and socket type. I did a quick web search for it and could not find one. I do not know if they still offer it.

Thanks. I don't want to highjack this thread. I will start a new one looking for suggestions.
