Hey guy's...I was wondering what sizes I an run without changing my cables. I was thinking of maybe a 3.5" but will I have problems with stock cables on my "03 Viper? Also what brand do you recommend?
Thanks!
Thanks!

You may be able to get by if you buy the pivoting kind and tip them towards the windshield. A 2 inch block style will be the most with the stock cables. I think I may go with the Rox risers when I raise mine higher, right now I have a 2 in. block. XC

Just save yourself the hassle and buy new cables. It takes 5 minutes to switch them out and you dont have to worry about them being to short. I have a 2" block and a 3.5" pivot riser on my srx with mtn max cables and i have plenty of room with those cables.

on a viper 2" is about max, i have done three different vipers and 2 of them with the 2" was pretty tight, one was ok but not much room. also watch out for your cables rubbing on the steering column bolts. also the sxr's airbox has a slot i believe through the middle to allow the cables to run through. the viper cables route more on the side

I for got how big with a pivot riser you can go on a viper with stock cables I thought it was 2 1/2 " or 3" with stock cables depending on what style a pivot riser it is.The reason you can go taller with a pivot riser vs a blcok riser is the bars get moved farther ahead giving your cables more slack and a block riser moves your bars back towards the seat more there fore you have to sit back farther on the seat and you don't get as goo of a handling. With a pivot riser your able to sit farther forward more towards the ski's and you can can corner faster.

i have the powermadd pivot now on my viper and you may be able to get the pivot with a 2" block that would put it at 3.25 total but i think even then it would be tight. i have a total of 5.25 with the long cables rolled as far forward as i can get them and i am still a little tighter than i would like.

Use the search function and you will find many posts on this topic. I think the general feeling is that 2" is the max on a Viper with stock cables. I put on a 2" Rox pivot riser last year and I would not go any more than 2" on my sled without extending the cables. I think the Rox pivot riser is the only way to go. G.B.
Thanks for your opinions guys. I guess I'm buying the longer cables. Can i just get these at my Yami stealership or do you guys have any recommendations for that too?

a week ago i put Apex bars with the powermadd 3" pivot adapter and 3 inch block....didnt have to change any cables EXCEPT brake line cuase it was tight but still fit. figured i didnt want to loose my brakes on the trail. it looks good though!

Yeah 2" MAX...I have my bars as forward as possible and notched a hole through..the brass wire/cable guide under the hood around the breather box...just in case...I noticed it could get a little tight on the corners..
good luck...as for brand...ahhh...I got the plastic(don't remember the name)..but if ya can...go aluminum...it was hard for me to figure when to stop tightening my bolts on the plastic..
cheers

With the montain machines you can go taller than a power madd because they pivbot right at the base of the steering stem vs a power madd,
Here's the link www.mountainmachines.us/home.php?cat=28 I've had this debate on the 4 stroke side before.
With this on a vector I could go 4" with the stock cables and on a power madd pivot it was about 2.5" max
Rich Motorsports is a dealer for them

Send a PM to Richierich and tell him your looking to add a riser to your sled and need the hardware to do it. He'll hook you up with a throttle cable, oil cable and a brake line.
I have 5.5" of rise on my SRX with the mtn max cables and a steel braided brake line and i have PLENTY of room left on my cables

Do they makea pivot only to add to my 3" riser? What brand works best and do I need to change cables?

pro how does it attach at the base, by the looks of the pics it looks like it would need the adapter like the power madd. the power madd base adds 1.25" rise

no base needed it clamps it your stock bar holder and pivots from the very bottom that's why you can go higher than other brands.

I am running a 3inch riser on my 02 viper. I took of the metal cable loop on the steering shaft above the airbox and did a little rerouting of the cables. I have had this on for 2 seasons with no problems. You just have to be inovative.
